Ive had first degree retrolisthesis for about a year now. It’s a real pain in the beginning. The things that have helped me the most have been core strengthening, can’t stress this enough, the goal is to protect your spine. You’re right about the crunches, not good to round your back durning the beginning stages of this injury. Daily stretching is key. Overall strength training has helped a ton, mainly focusing on the posterior chain. Sit down AS LEAST as possible, sittin puts crazy pressure on the spine. And just staying dedicated to getting better. I know there are tons of people who suffer from this injury and there really isn’t a lot of research on retro specifically, but it can get better.

Yes. I am cautious about strength training because when done incorrectly which is most of the time, it will do damage more than good. I suggest doing them at a chiropractic office that does DNS or developmental Kinesiology or McGill

I have lumbar retrolisthesis, which seemed to happen after lifting a washing machine 3 months ago. I have barely any pain now, except for if I run (I used to run 5-6 days a week). Do you know if my body will adapt to be able to run again if I do exercises to strengthen my back?

When you are in pain the goal has to be to get you out of pain. Sometimes meds is the only solution to get rid of the pain and while you are not experiencing pain, to do the necessary rehab work.

Surgery isn’t the end all. If PT only lowers your 9/10 pain to a 4/3 pain that is unacceptable.

When I first went to a pain clinic I was placed in a harness and then a table that slowly pulled my spine,I did this for 5 weeks every day except the weekends for 30 mins, it didn't help much
@irvinespine2 жыл бұрын
not surprised. In most if not all of these cases, it is all about stability and most often, surgery should not be even considered. If you are nearby call the office and let's see what is going on with you.

Hello doctor please help, im greatful for any info. I hurt my neck and X-rays showed retrolisthesis of c5 on c6. My pain is now into my shoulders and collarbone. Every morning I can not even lift my arm up, I have been on pain meds since 4/27/23 just to get through my day. Is there anything I can do to help this process? How long does something like this take to heal?

I can’t tell you much because I don’t have enough info nor have examined you. Waiting for pain to go away is not the right way to expect the problem to go away. You also need to learn the dos and donts.

Wow I love it i rarely like and subscribe but I loved the video!!!! Thank you so much I saw you answering your subscribers can I ask a question? Well I’m 16 and I play disc golf if you haven’t heard of it it’s basically golf with discs or frisbees and it takes alooooot of rotation in the spine and it really challenges all of my supporting points in my back I did a lot of research and wound up here I hope this is what I have. I have always had pretty bad back pain but it worsened with my physical activities. I used to play video games a minimum of 10 hours a day and then I decided to be active witch caused my back to hurt.

Thanks for the compliment. I can’t tell you if you have this or not with the info you provided. I am glad to see you active and can tell you that too much rotation is never good!

Thank you for this video. Could you please tell me what to do with backwards misalignment (retrolisthesis) of C4?. My foggy brain doesn't allow me to fully understand everything you said, so I don't know if you mentioned what to do to fix it. FYI: I have seen 27 Chiropractors and no one has fixed it, they just tell me that I have an issue there. I don't know if because of it, but I have instability in the upper cervical. Thank you ✌️

There is nothing you can do to fix it. You need to learn how to not make it worse and being scared of moving it is not the solution😉Does it show instability with the flexion/extension X-rays?

@@irvinespine sorry for my incorrect English Dr Shakib. My wife has been diagnosed with a retrolisthesis grade 2 in L4L5. She doesn't get any relief from painkillers including Tramadol. In another Spanish region my sister has got exactly the same issue, but in that region neurosurgeons use ozone injections on her back getting relief from 4 to 6 weeks, and do it again along the months. From a scale of 10 to 1 she gets a 4 of pain level relief. Even fentanyl does not get it with her pain. What's your opinion about? Thanks a lot Dr, regards from Spain. 🙏

@@antoniodarosamartinez83 hmmm. If pain is unbearable then she should do what it takes to lower it BUT remember it is all about learning how to not make it worse. Stability of the spine and Posture is absolutely the key. I strongly advise her to look for the membership site launching at the end of the month.so important to know how to NOT mess it up by learning what the body likes and dislikes with movement.
