A lot of heavy hitters in this newscast. Bob Koop, Carol Jasen, Van Miller and Kevin O'Connell. All legends in WNY. I've always been a WGRZ guy but this is fantastic.

Those were the days. We always watched ch7 growing up, but I do remember this

@coyote520 , growing up, my neighbor was good friends with Ch 7's Linda Pellegrino. In my household, we watched Irv on Ch 7, and sometimes the late Bob Koop on 4. Now I watch Ch 2.

That's how you tame inflation. Not this nod-and-wink stuff they're trying today.

Ahh, this brings back some good memories ... Amazing how the news was on in the AM, Noon, 6 and 11. Not 24/7 like it is today. Man I wish we could turn back the clock...

Carol Jasen was the sexiest anchor in Buffalo and she's a very tall 5'10. Kevin O'Connell will soon move to KNBC Ch 4 Los Angeles replacing Pat Sajak who set his focus on Wheel of Fortune. Kevin spent the rest of the 80s on all 3 network stations before returning to this station by 1990.

And while at KNBC, Kevin would get a taste of the national spotlight when he hosted the short-lived game show “GO”.

If you grew up in Southern Ontario in the 70's and 80's, you have heard the word "Lackawana" more times than you need to know. All I knew about the place back then was two things: I'm on the American channel waiting for a kid's tv show to start and hearing about the weather in Buffalo this weekend, or that the damn place was CONSTANTLY ON FIRE.
@coyote520 Жыл бұрын
Lackawanna is, and always was, pretty grimy and gross.

Compare this news broadcast to what you see today. You don't see a lot of stories today, and very few with a reporter. If you watch this you'll wonder what happened.

The weather forecast was fairly accurate. That Thursday it was 19 for the high (forecast of 20); Friday was right on the money with a high of 23; Saturday had a high of 31 (forecast of 32). Sunday was where it fell apart. They said a high of 40, but it wound up being only 28. So all-in-all they could accurately predict the weather about three days out. It's probably not much better today.

This was a better time, when women were women, and men were men, and there was no "leftist progressive" bullshit.
