There is a parallel here on budgets with Admiral Rickover, who was in charge of the early development of the US nuclear navy. He told his engineers that when the project was 90% completed, they'd better still have 50% of the budget available to complete it, because it was going to be needed.

Can you please do an Autofocus on the zinc metal spraying? Parts, pieces, setup, pressures, spray pattern, and coating thickness. I am still hoping to be able to do my farm equipment and maybe my Land Rovers.
@foamdataservices Жыл бұрын
There is a video where they describe the hot zinc coating. The gun for it is over £2000, it’s not really a “home” type process, since you effectively melt the zinc rod and then spray it hot onto the shell. I looked at setting up a bay, since I have a large barn, but it was prohibitively expensive vs subcontracting it out.

Do custom radiator cores come in standard sizes? Possibly with data on the power output that they can dissipate? That would shorten design time and prevent the specification of some expensively odd shape.
@Andrew-vx2ls Жыл бұрын
Good question! It is possible to do some benchmarking by looking the the cross sectional area of cars with similar power and/or using the figures suggested by the SAE. Having established this CSA, you can then look for a size that goes with your project and then contact a reputable firm (Radtec in GB are excellent - no affiliation, just a happy customer). Firms often take cores from OEM to keep costs down. Caterham radiators come from VW Polos...

I think the rule you are looking for is the 80:20 rule, 20% of the work takes 80% of the time
@gordowg1wg145 Жыл бұрын
That's the Pareto principle, originally posited as 80-20 for weath distribution, it has been applied (almost) universally because it is so accurately descriptive. It's also sometimes referred to as the 90-10 rule. In practice, I've found it can also be considered a 90-90 rule - 90% of the work done, 90% of the work still to be done 😉👍

Solid "nope" for the tank hack. Modern fuel tends to melt every foam invented, sooner or later. The bits of the foam clogg fuel injectors, usually in mid run, causing acute leaning in fuel delivery. Direct out vents suck dirt into the tank and too small surge tank cavitates the pump and airrates the fuel. With all politeness, I strongly suggest going back to drawing board with this one.
