You're successfully filling the entertainment void left by John's Arcade. Way to keep the content consistently fresh and fun. This is hands-down the best home arcade channel on KZbin and it's not even close. ✨

Its been great seeing you do it and then getting to see it done in person. I feel much more confident in the whole thing.

So happy to see you being passionate about restoring this. I wish there was no more knowledge easily available for this type of stuff as well as places in Canada to get old machines and tubes serviced. My dream used to be to own an MvC2 arcade but I came to the conclusion that I would never be able to easily troubleshoot issues myself so I just went the route of buying it for Dreamcast along with 2 sticks

Buying a one use device instead of using a raspberry pi to NetBoot is a bit wild to me. The newest raspberry pi setups allow for all sorts of stuff like skipping the diagnostic, booting games while other ones are loaded, and using your phone as a remote control. Plus the phone UI is gorgeous and has wiki entries for each game. The community really outdid itself on that one. One pi can also NetBoot multiple machines or do other stuff in the background relevant to your arcade room or home. Anyway, just my two cents. If whatever you showed on screen was really cheap and “just works”, then I’m happy the option exists. More options for people are good.

Yep mostly have this issue when getting new cabinets myself they cap it but don't fix the flyback so monitor would end up just dying.
@wmiekka2 жыл бұрын
Those k7000 flybacks with white adjustment knobs are known to have issues. :) A lot of people (myself included) will replace them even if they are working at the time, especially when doing a cap kit. My big blue Champion Edition cab has the same monitor as yours and I replaced the white knob flyback as well. Other flybacks have a better reputation so I think just depends. My MK2 k7000 has its original flyback, but it’s not the version with the white knobs so I didn’t bother changing it.
@arcadefussell31852 жыл бұрын
Old ass CRT's are AWESOME! For whatever reason the K7000's have lame fly backs. I've got a new one that was lame right out of its Chinese package. (Double Lame) Wish they were all built like a K4600. Those were some hard core bad chickens. I agree with Pixel Relic that you are filling a gap now that John's Arcade has faded into the sunset. Your a different guy though Ralph and your stuff is unique and your cool in a totally different way than John. Many of us got our start in this hobby from watching John, me included. The best part about your channel Ralph is that you portray your love and enthusiasm for these awesome pieces of Americana. That is contagious and fun! As long as the love is there these machines will out live all of us! Thanks for your work Ralph.

Wow, that’s such a big complement and I truly appreciate it. I really love this stuff and I’m glad that my passion for it comes through in the videos. Anyhow, I can’t thank you enough for supporting the channel and for taking the time to comment. Now let’s replace some flybacks 😂 Thanks again!

Was thinking of getting into arcade machines myself in the future. Anything I should know about/look out for?
@RetroRalph2 жыл бұрын
It depends on what your goal is, if it's to acquire machines and fix them for a good price then "what to look out for" is different. If you're just starting out I would say try to buy working machines. Ones where you know the game board PCB is good. minimal cabinet damage and be on the look out for water damage. I steer clear of cabinets that have significant water damage, it's just too much work. Thanks so much for watching!
