retro--man I need your help with something-I bought everything you have on this tutorial and I want to hook this up without blowing my expensive ass board-Can you please please redo a video of a slower condensed version of the connections for your golden tee cab!!!-(not the trackball section), the molex connections specifically. I bought the power outlet from twisted quarter and heres the thing-no instructions. Which molex goes to which 4 pin hook up on the original PCB board? The twister quarter power supply has a 4 wire and a 3 wire molex and how do I know if I have the backwards on the board or upside down? Another question is I bought the red board as well I have have an additional VGA output on that board...Do you plug your VGA cable into "VGA out or VGA in"? Man I love this mod-and I am so determined to get this thing going. Also on my red board it actually has a standard 1/8 inch plug for a reg 12 volt power supply....Can I use that instead the separate power supply you purchased? Seems to power up with a red light-But not confident its enough power for the red board? Man I need your help-this is all I have in time of quarentine!. lol thanks again and take care

So I'm going to be doing the same thing to mine this week and I'm wondering two things: 1. Did you ditch the "plexiglass" cover? I read somewhere it's kind of fragile but it was for other machines... Curious what's in store for me! 2. Is the power supply you used quiet? I got all the parts striped from an original cab (arrived today) and dang is that original power supply is loud! If it's quiet, I will order one and use the original until the other arrives.
@pudelz4 жыл бұрын
Someone recently liked my comment which made me think I should provide an update... I made my mod shortly after I made my comment. 1. I kept the plexiglass covering on my mod... I left the plexiglass & wood control panel together when I made the holes for the extra buttons. No cracks! Please note though, from other posts I read up on, your experience might be different... 2. Yes, the new board power supply is much quieter than the original one I got! I would highly recommend getting the one he suggests. I also did some different things to my setup. 1. Made the on/off switch simulate a quarter being inserted. 2. Added a button to simulate $3 being inserted since that's the cost of a full game (placed it on the small insert that's at an angle below the controls) 3. Added a small push button by the arcade1up sticker (top/back) to access the operator menu 4. Wired a surge protector inside of the machine to a rocker switch power socket on the panel. This makes it look nice/professional back there and having a removable power cord in case I need to move it is super nice! My next planned upgrades are: 1. Find a switch that will fit/can be used in place of the original volume control so I don't have to go into the operator menu to change the volume and reset my game (at least I think that's how the volume wires work). I currently have the existing volume control switch connected with the on/off switch which I made in a quarter insert. If I can't find something that will work, I will probably drill holes for arcade buttons in place of these original switches for volume up/down and make a quarter button down by my $3 button. 2. See if I can't use the extra wires/plugs coming out of the board power supply instead of using generic wall plugs that are then plugged into the surge protector. That or get additional power supply like the video shows for the converter/etc. I do get interference every once in a while but nothing major... 3. Proper cable management inside. Right now, it's a mix between the wires just hanging there and zip tied to other wires. Haven't been too concerned since it's inside the machine and I feel like I'm not done with it. Once I'm done with the previous two things, I will be going all out on the cable management! Might also look into getting it to look more like a Golden Tee Complete machine but this very low/non existent on my list since the Fore series are more of "classic" golden tee than the ones that originally came with it.

hey dude great video...Quick Question, I recently purchased the Golden Tee by arcade 1up and love it but my only issue is that I never get full distance on the trackball when it comes to yardage. Sometimes even 30-40 yards short. Is this something that can be corrected on how hard I hit the trackball? Is this also something that was true with the regular arcade machines? Or is this just a not so good version of Golden and cheaply made. For example, if I have a 165 yard par 3 over water lots of times the ball ends up being short and lands in the water maybe 30 yards short of the green even with the distance marker well beyond the pin. I am wondering if this is the trackball or human error. I have been searching vids like crazy and you seem like you know the most about this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
@dwayneraimer4 жыл бұрын
ya, take the controller board off and take apart the track ball. The rollers are probably not on correctly and could use some very light lube- only where the rollers touch the plastic ( not the trackball itself-otherwise you'll have a mess every time you play it) I would suggest maybe a little bit of thin greese or WD40. Then put it all back together being careful that when you're putting your trackball back on that the ball stays in the correct place and doesn't loose alignment. Good luck-hope that helps

The boards alone are $500, then you have everything else.

Great video! I’ve wanted a Golden Tee for the longest time along with a Mortal Kombat. I went to Costco yesterday and saw the 1up MK. The game play was pretty good. But the graphics were pretty bad. I then looked if 1up made a Golden Tee. Anyway, that’s what got me here. Looking for ways to improve the 1989 graphics! Lol! I’ve actually thought about buying a brand new commercial Golden Tee! But at 4k+, I might gain a Golden Tee and lose a family when my wife leaves me! Lol! Anyway, how much money do you have all in on this project? Are the graphics substantially better? I really don’t need all the corses, but the graphics on the 1up, boo!!!! Have you done an MK mod?

Retro Ralph, I live in the phoenix area as well... Would you do this build for me? I will purchase everything and pay you for it....

I honestly don't think it's worth it. It was one of those, I did it because I had the parts thing. The boards have gone up a lot in cost. If you have the space, you can usually find Golden Tee Completes for $500-700 dollars. The boards themselves are more expensive than an entire cabinet setup with the boards, kinda goofy.

There's no way I could pull this off myself but I want to find one of these so bad or find someone who could do this mod for me.

My man Ralph with another home run mod. Very cool video man. Curious how long these tend to take you?

Thanks bud, this one took around 4 or so hours due to several issues I ran into.

Hardware question: what is the part number of the video board that is connected directly to the monitor??

This is less of a GT mod & more of a throw everything away from the A1Up cab and just use the cabinet. Lol

😂😂😂 Well, that’s exactly why I don’t buy them anymore. I found myself replacing half the stuff in them to get them how I personally wanted it. While that was fun, I was spending wayyyyyy too much money. Now at the current prices, it almost makes modding cost prohibitive, at least for me. Anyhow, thanks for watching!

I don't know why people use cheap speaker with no sub. Sub makes all the different in an arcade even if you play Golden Tea.

I have a 13 yo son and a 18 yo daughter. My son used to enjoy playing beat em ups like X-men, turtles , sunset riders and stuff like that. Now. Not so much…. 😕

It's not MAME though! Why mislead viewers thinking it's a good mame emulation, which you say doesn't exist?
@RetroRalph3 жыл бұрын
I think you need to re-watch the video, I clearly state here that it CAN be emulated but the emulation is not very good. Not sure what's misleading about the video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pl6mfGSHet-rmbs
