From across the pond, I do the same thing for my neighbors. My friend, originally from St. Ouen, Jersey then takes them and does the hair and mack-up. The customers love it. Cheers. Narragansett Bay

I love to see the jobs you do on the mowers and stuff. Interesting and informative, but I can never understand why you quote metric AND imperial sizes for fastener heads. I'd always say if it's a metric hex use a metric socket/tool whatever. If it's imperial use an imperial tool. Most people tinkering with bikes or mowers would surely have both metric and imperial sockets & spanners. I know I do,and it can often ruin the head if an incorrectly fitted socket (particularly a 12 point socket)is used. You're American audience would certainly have imperial - and metric tools would be a must due to most fixtures, screws & fasteners being metric over there I'd of thought. Most manufacturers distribute stuff around the world in metric dimensions s. I suppose if one DOES only have one type of tool set ,then giving both Metric and Imp sizes is helpful. But mostly I'd find the so called equivalent to be a slack fit resulting in a possible stripped bolt or screw head scenario. Glad you got that mower sorted, anyway. Thanks for the tips on buying up a nackerered mower and restoring- becaus that's something I might have a go at in the future now I've retired. Best regards, Roger (the dirt warrior.)

What you probably don't realise with these Briggs and Stratton engines is that they come with 2 different bolt sizes. Some are imperial and some are metric, the USA models come with the imperial as you probably know and the european are metric, however, I have had ones in the UK with both imperial and metric bolts so I only say this with these briggs and stratton engines. I don't say use a 13 mm if you don't have a 1/2" I say it as they come with either metric and imperial sizes. Hope that clears it up for you.

@@retrorestore Thanks a lot for a clear reply ,Martin . That's cleared that up & I'm pleased that I asked now. That's a strange set up,isn't it? I think Hardley Davidson 's are a bit the same. Probably all out sourced parts are metric while genuine Harley parts are imperial. Nothing wrong with imperial dimensions- I love the mints that are made that way!
