Hooraah! At last someone who agrees that all that buttering up with copper grease on the brake pads is not necessary and indeed not advised.

You only just caught those brake pads in time before they started to scour the discs. Great informative video which will hopefully help a few people.

Never done anything with a car before mate as I dont drive 😂 but watching your vids it would certainly help if I needed, informative and brilliantly explained. Love you doing these videos, from lawnmowers to the cars. Anyways thanks once again and take care 👍

Despite yourself not driving ,it's still interesting stuff for the mechanically minded isn't it?

Gary squeezed the last pennies out of those pads, i think the wind in ones are only one the rear to opperate the handbrake🤔 great video guys.

Nice one, feels like tech school with very usefull tips. Those calipers look like Mazda MPV ones, must be standard equipment in many vehicles.🐞

Lovely father and son team work , is there a way to tell the difference between a inner track rod to outer as I’ve seen videos of mistaking where the travel is and replacing the wrong part. I’m sure you know more than me about this Martin you are a very knowledgeable person. Love all your videos not 1 bad word to say about any of you 💜🥳

Back in the day on the older Vauxhalls it was a known problem that if you didn’t release the cap there was a high probability that you would flip the cylinder rubbers. Isn’t it funny that through all the years copper slip has been used on pads yet new cars are fitted dry. Another informative video for those not in the know. Well done lads 👍

Hello Honky Are you talking about the old drum brakes regards the flipping of rubbers?
@daveawhittle2 күн бұрын
Agreed Mk2/Mk3 Astras/Cav Nova etc were terrible for flipping master cylinder seals

@ unless you have not seen it or made the terrible balls up and done it you wouldn’t know tho would you but like you say it was a very real thing 👍

The discs need changed too look at the lip top and bottom on the disc means your pads will have uneven ware plus the disc should not be that shiny

I changed my pads once.........ONCE!!! 😂😂 it was a pain. I tried it a second time on my next car, 8 years ago, in September 98°f 90% humidity. Bolts would not move. After 30 minutes, I said F it. 2 days later pulled into a shop, 45 minutes later it was done.

On a motorbike the volume of brake fliud in the reservoir is directly relevant to the volume of consumable material on the brake pads. So when worn pads are replaced, the level should always return to the full mark. Provided, of course, that it was on the full mark beforehand. And as Martin says,as long as no one's come along and thought it's low and requires a top up. I'm not sure if that's true on cars as one fluid reservoir normally feed all 4 brakes ,which would total quite a lot of pad material.
