They say things come in Threes, I have just done damage to my pride and joy Mondeo ST220 by reversing into a metal post. We also look at some safety advice I watched on The Dirty Garage Guy's channel who made me think about my own workshop in the event of a fire. @@joshonthetube I would think he'll base coat the repair after scotching it off ,fade out the colour and laquer that half of the bumper and then use fade out thinner to blend the laquer in ,then give it a flat and polish when it's properly dry,that's what I've done before when I was in the trade 👍

Good move purchasing the fire extinguisher, just make sure you give it a shake & bang on the floor every couple of weeks or the powder will all settle into a solid lump at the bottom & nothing will come out the nozzle when you need it.

You could put pool noodles around those posts with bands of glow in the dark tape.I have a small scrape on the side of my headlamp, turned it white. Also my husband dragged a dresser out of my suv and took a deep gouge out the back from the handle. I also watch ChrisFix channel , may have to try fixing them.

what you like martin eh, you are not the only one to have done stuff like that, I took the 306s rear bumper out on a vans step. Repair is failing now, really bites your arse when you do that. Also my dad reversed into a tree, while on holiday, rushing about, in one of his strops. Right old dent in the boot.

Jimmy mate I’d recommend to take out the motherboard and and clean it with ipa the purest you can get 99% so it doesn’t cause any problems in the future just a suggestion mate

Martin if you’ve got flammable liquids I’d get a foam extinguisher too (cream). Also REMEMBER that powder doesn’t cool a fire just smothers it stopping the oxygen so the heat will still be there. So you’ll have to use quite a bit. That’s why water is the gold standard firefighting medium as it smothers and cools at the same time. Hope this helps.

We all make mistakes Martin we are only human. I have a fire extinguisher it's handy to have Martin. I bought it on EBay I believe handy bit of kit. Think it's a 2kg one av got am always working outside. Lucky your Lad was there to sort the St220 out for you. 👍

Killed my laptop last year Martin. I had a glass of water with a dispersible aspirin in it. Knocked the lot over the laptop. I tried sorting it myself, no good. So I found a local guy working from home to have a look at it and then phone me with the diagnosis. He asked me what I'd spliied on it because when the aspirin had dried he thought it was the old naughty white powder and was ready to inform the local constabulary. Unbelieveable!

Maybe try and make yourself a fire proof cabinet or something to store flammable things in there. You could even put a flammable warning sign on there but I guess you don't really need to considering you know what's in there. I plan to make a fire proof charging station for charging batteries in.

If you ever have to use that powder extinguisher get it off everything as quick as possible, it rusts tools, metal etc. It's worth getting one of the small aerosol extinguishers that are non toxic and easy to clean up after use, like 'first alert tundra' good for those scenarios where the mess the powder causes outweighs the benefit of it on smaller fires

My grandad had a garage in islington, he was welding and the car caught fire. 20 mins later he was talking to the firefighter outside had a massive heart attack and died. A year earlier him and his brother used to waterski together in the estuary near Malden, his brother had a heart attack driving the boat and it was going round in circles for a long time. Very sad all around.. I fear for my heart as both grandads died young of heart disease.

Hi Martin on the plus side least the canopy didnt collapse. The powder extinguisher i recomend tipping it upside down every month so that the powder dosent compact into a solid lump. And also if you do set it off inside make sure the doors are open because the powder starves the oxygen in the air.

£35 for that extinguisher is a bargain compared to the total value of your workshop. That’s a good lad coming to dads rescue I would do the same for my dad. Proper family values which seem to be lost on some of the current generation. Great short video would be good to see the colour go in 👍🇬🇧
