Von Sydow was a great Jesus, and priest in the Exorcist because his voice has that unique " righteousness "that makes everything seem true and grave. But he is extremely Swedish ( whatever that means to you). He could be one of family- serious, one might say humorless. I can imagine him at the dinner table. Silent save the ticking of a grandfather clock.

I remember when Max Von Sydow played Ming the Merciless in a modern adaptation of Flash Gordon. In the old serial with Buster Crabbe the role was played by Charles Middleton.
