Christopher Lee's first heavy-metal album came out in 2010, when he was 88. A ripe age to began singing heavy metal, but he pulled it off brilliantly.

@@respectablebogan3276 Thank you. That's so true. I can't imagine anyone except Ian playing Gandalf, and I can't imagine anyone except Chris playing Saruman. While I'm sure Chris would've been a magnificent Gandalf, I imagine it would pale in comparison to his Saruman.

If I may add with regards to Peter Cushing. When his wife died he would run up and down the flight of stairs in his home with the hope of bringing on a heart attack, he was shattered by his wife's death. Christopher in the hope of helping his best friend invited him out and together would visit cinemas and watch cartoons, Abbott and Costello, etc. It was the cartoons they loved the most and they carried like on children, roaring out loud laughing, imitating the cartoon characters and such. So when he mentioned how much he missed his friend (.. "our idiotic humor.. ) I confess that I teared up. In our short lives we are lucky when we strike up a friendship, but are truly privileged when it ends as Best Friends

@Feiner Fug You're a bit harsh. But I do fondly remember one specific scene from Jinnah - when he's attacked by an extremist. How did he put it? Oh, it's on imdb: "You are an ignorant fool. I have fought for your mother, your sister, and your children's children to live in dignity. Islam doesn't need fanatics like you, Islam needs men of vision who will build the country. Now grow up, and serve Pakistan!"

Christopher Lee was one of the coolest guys around. Fought Nazi's as a young man, continued playing in the Hammer horror movies because, when he was about to leave for greener pastures, Hammer asked him to stay because, as their star, his leaving would cause people to lose their jobs and so he stayed, spoke something like five different languages. So greatly underrated.

Great to see this thank you. I feel like the interviewer didn't even need to interject so many times. Christopher is a great raconteur and could have easily done a half hour monologue talking through the arc of his career without any questions whatsoever lol.

I would like to imitate Christopher Lee - not only his thunderous but quiet voice, but his demeanor. This is a well-educated, well-versed man. Great interview. Both parties are so harmoniously engaged in such a respectful and educated manner.

Playing Saruman was a pretty good encore to such an amazing film career, to say nothing of the rest of his remarkable life.

God I wish I had a voice even remotely close to his. Amazing. And he was friends with Peter Cushing? If only they lived long enough to star In a Star Wars movie together. They're forever immortalized as great of actors as they were.

I always love to rewatch the last unicorn.. was the first time I recognized his voice.. from the GERMAN VERSION. Yes he dubbed his lines not just in english but also german. Which is one of the reasons why I adore that movie.
