My dad designed and wrote the 150-in-One project for Tandy. I developed the black and white photos that he took with his Canon camera out in the sun (um, that may have been for his books). My brother drafted the schematics. It was a family event! :) Glad to see so many young people enjoyed it so much! My dad was always a teacher.

Wow thats cool. My Dad had a TV repair business and I was around 10 years old when I got this kit. I built the fish caller oscillator and took a small speaker from a doner radio. I sealed the external speaker in a planters peanut can. It worked! I used to put the speaker against the side of our fish tank and the fish would come to that side to investigate the sound. I later dropoed the sealed speaker can into a sand pit pond with ckear water behind our house and the fish were definately drawn to the sound! What a great memory. 🙂👍👍 (I also had the 200 in 1 kit so its may have been that kit in which I tested the fish caller).

@@sailgoal Haha, I forgot about the fish caller! I think I first used it on my aquarium fish (they didn't care, lol) and then even tried it during a family ice fishing trip (with no success).

I got this kit in grade school (2nd grade) and studied that book obsessively (OCD?). I got my BSEE 15 years later :) thank you

That is so cool! I had the kit as a boy. My Dad owned a Radio Shack franchise and was a communication engineer for CBS. That kit was a brilliant design and was so much fun. We created an electronic whoopie cushion to rig chairs for dinner guests.

I had this model! It provided hours of fun. It also removed the mystery/fear of electronic components. I wished they made them today for my kids to use/learn.

Maxitronix still makes a 200 in 1 model I think. An exact replica of the Tandy / Radioshack version.

Interesting, the 200 in 1 has some logic chips. The 150 in one had some simple IC, like an op amp?

I still have this kit when I bought it around the late 70's from Radio Shack. I lost the original manual but I found a pdf file online and I will pass this on to my son.

I was an only child back in the 80s. I had this exact kit back then so I had a lot of time and fun with it.

Thanks so much. I had that exact same kit when I was 10 years old. Great to see it in operation again. I made the exact same circuits as you did - I definitely remember those springs and components. Thanks.

I had this! The crystal radio project was my favorite. It blew my mind that you could listen to radio without batteries/solar power.

Enjoyed that tour thanks. I'm restoring an early 70s kit, 50 in 1, wooden box, all germanium. Do you happen to know the coil voltage for the relays in these? I think I need a replacement.

I loved this kit, but I just cannot imagine today's kids having the patience or interest. But I was fascinated.

I had like 2 or 3 of these kits in comparable. Back when America wanted to learn and have fun doing it.

Prices are not in € but in Belgium Franks. In those days of Tandy, there was no €. So, i think that invoice was for small components, probably a 9v battery and 2 1.5 AA battery

This got me started in the magical world of electronics .. I modified Vox so when it heard a sound the relay would turn on my casset recorder then after 5 sec ( delay cap ) turn off .. ohh the fun I had with that … LOL

As a kid some 40 years ago, I made the vox voice project, the colpitts oscillator, rc oscillator, the digital counter probe, the fm x-mitter, the am/fm radio, the crystal radio(probably everyone's favorite) the different meters, etc... Mines I think had a few IC's. 555 being one of them, and a few 4000 or 74ls packages... Might be 4066 and 4001 or 4002. I could be wrong.

I have bought the 40 in 1 electro magnetic kit science fair NEW and the connections are tarnished. I suspect even the wires... what do I do, Please help. Beautiful, spanking new and doesn't work. I tried 1 lamp with new wires and barely worked. So I know the components work, just 50 years old thats all...
