Considering I wasn't born when this episode released, I can never imagine the trauma I've been told by hundreds of people who watched this episode. (Sometimes I wonder if Cartoon Network was aware of it...) The late 90s CGI doesn't induce me with any fear, but I can see how it did for kids who probably tuned into Cartoon Cartoon one night, saw this episode, and stayed up ever since...

You are soooo lucky that you weren't around to watch this when this episode first came out because this episode (along with the entirety of this show) managed to traumatize me and many other 90s and 2000s kids at the time, lol. It's true that the CGI for this episode doesn't really hold up well in this day and age, but to child me it was new and scary. CGI at the time was a new form of technology, so this definitely came off creepy and terrifying back when this episode first premiered. 😁

I don't remember the exact order that the episodes released, but I know the "professor" appeared in other episodes that Courage's transformations reference; the professor appeared in an explorer's uniform in the episode where a mummy comes back and goes after Muriel and Eustace after thinking they're their ancestors, and he appears again as a ship captain in the episode where the family goes on a cruise and winds up on an island after the ship sinks and Katz transforms everyone into random objects

That "King Ramses" song haunted me as a kid. That's what I heard when I had fever dreams. Along with impossibly tall, Tim Burton-esque doors opening up in a black void and silhouettes of Freaky Fred. I love this cartoon.

I was perhaps 7 years old watching the King Ramses Curse episode, man it creeped the shit out of me. And at the same time, it was my favorite episode because it's spot on moments that are scary and funny when it needs to be. But Eustace being stuck in the slab is probably scary and yet funny. I mean it works because what makes the horror of it work is you're wondering what is going on with Eustace in the slab. Basically, him being trapped in the slab is a reference to ghost stories of people being trapped in a object and it makes feel uneasy and uncomfortable. I mean it's like are you conscious or not conscious, are you seeing things. It raises these scary questions and it's also funny with that one quote "What's your offer?" because it gives one last punch line from typical Eustace.

Out of all the episodes of courage the cowardly dog this episode the curse of king ramses was the one that actually scared 😨 me! It's the fact that he is a CGI character in a 2 dimensional hand drawn show combined with his voice and theme music that made thing's so scary. The only part of the episode that made me laugh back then was Eustace saying "what's your offer?!" Along with the second plague ( the song ) got me through watching 👀 the episode. The CGI king Ramese still haunts my dreams to this day! Us kid's from the 90's & 2000's really had crazy animated shows!
