Damn I love KZbin. I could never see this live back in the day. This is the next best thing.

Berekeley community theater, every spring, RTF would debut the new album. I was at them all and to this day I can say the WHIKYB concert was by far the best concert I've ever attended. They played the entire Hymn of the 7th and WHIKYB albums. They literally changed the way I hear music to this day. I've been to well over 2,000 concerts in my life and this and the Romantic Warrior shows were hands down the best ever.

@@The_G_in_Jesus Oh how well you express yourself. Poetic. And you capture what music is all about while so many just dont understand the journey. I'm now disabled and only attend one or two concerts a year. Be well, enjoy the ride.

I have heard a number of examples of his playing, but I have NEVER heard and seen Al di Meola play with such natural musicalness as this. After five listens, I am still not convinced that this guitar playing belongs in the Al di Meola box in my head. Can't say I didn't warn you. (Leaves those "Bill Connors had more feel" and "Al sounds like he's practicing scales" KZbin comments for dead, doesn't it?!?)

Bill Connors was also great. In his later albums he had a kind of Holdsworth style. Al Di's early playing was more rock sound. flight of the newborn is a great example

@@evertvanderhik5774 RIP Allan. Connors was a fine guitarist. With Al, I prefer his flamenco playing to his solo fusion stuff, but my favorite stuff of his is his work with Return to Forever. Or Race With the Devil on Spanish Highway I think its called, off 77 or 78's Elegant Gypsy. His work in this video is awesome. Especially for a lad of what 21? Cheers

The song is actually called The Shadow Of IO, about the moon Jupiter's moon IO, Lenny White was a fan of astrology at the time. A typo error on the original album listed it as Lo...

yes the original video includes interviews with all the guys plus songs from the whole show. Most of it is very dark now and fragile from age.

I saw these guys at UCLA Royce Hall in the 1970s perform this great piece. Does anyone know where the title comes from? Is there some kind of deity named "Lo" in Hindu mythology or some other?
