Gravity Falls is my all time favorite show. Like most of it's fans, I loved analyzing and diving into every little bit of it. So I've dedicated an entire series to doing just that. This is the first part of a multi part retrospective looking back on as much of the series as I possibly can. To start off, we're gonna take a look at the Story of Season 1. The episode commentaries are such a great resource too, I've listened to all of them 2 times over because I love listening to Alex Hirsch talk about his process. He put a lot of emphasis on character relationships and it really shows. He's so damn good at what he does

I don’t honestly books like mice n men or citizen Kane have been looked at so much the original work has lost its meaning (which is poetic irony I know) instead of showing people what they should aim for we should instead just let them write their own story you have more appreciation for the work when it’s something you made and not something someone else made and your now forced to understand the source material.

i can’t explain how inspiring this show is to me as someone who’s actively working to go into the animation industry. i can’t afford calarts but let’s hope one day i’ll be able to make a show as relatable, intriguing, and adventurous as gravity falls. this video is so thought out and well worded, kudos i am hyped for the second part

it's super inspiring to me as well, I'm trying to write a book that's kind of like gravity falls if you dumb it down a lot, but it takes place in a school setting, and the main character isn't dipper, but a pushover who acted a lot like I did in middle school instead. my only fear with it? taking too much inspiration from other shows and not having enough originality 🥲

I thought at first the portal was a gateway to somewhere in space or something, maybe a realm that contacts a cosmic horror for him to make the ultimate deal with (him being a con man and all). A diety that he secretly worships in a cult of some kind. Or something that would trap Grunkle Stan, and Dipper and Mabel will have to spend season 2 saving him and finding the author. Bill was just trying to vaguely warn them the whole time.

28:19 this is another great foreshadow by the writers. when you have watched the show, you notice thats ford, not stan. stan didnt get that "tatoo" until ford was in the portal, and bill knew only of stanford, because stanley and stanford were no contact until the portal scene in a tale of 2 stans might be wrong, but it looks more like ford than stan also, edit, stan got the tatoo from it being burned on to him. the symbol was in fords portal room when it was burned on, so ford still has a connection to the symbol

I first saw this show in season 2's episode where bill takes over Dipper's body for his own gain, but this is a very interesting show and the mystery is still somewhat on going with the current release of the book of bill, I'd definitely recommend you watch the show before digging into that though.

I am pretty sure that I first saw gravity Falls when I was around my early teenagers like 14 or 15 one of those most likely 14 actually, and I was going downstairs to get some thing like usual my brother loved being downstairs because he liked the big TV a lot and would constantly watch shows or play games on it, and I saw that my brother was watching gravity Falls out of all of the episodes he was watching the first episode I saw on that screen was not what he seems, which is now my favorite episode of season two and I would watch it together after that I would always ask him to put it on plus he loved spending time with me as my older brother. Overtime I became even more fond of gravity, Falls, and it is now my favorite show of all times

Dyk that Gravity Falls and Rick & Morty are connected? In that scene including the triangle portal Stan was building to get his brother back, he lost his pen and a coffee cup then in an episode of Rick & Morty, we see those same triangle portals and outta one of them, the EXACT SAME pen and coffee cup fly out of! Also Alex Hirshe worked on both shows and has admitted that they're connected!

And it's clear that bill knew about Dipper and Mabel's falling out in Dipper and Mabel versus the future and something tells me he had a lot of fun watching them have their little fight and arguments and as he hoped Mabel pretty much gives in to ego and gives the rift over to Bill while he's in possession of Landon's body also sorry if I spelled the time traveler guy's name wrong but a lot of people might as well hate his character I think so who cares about his name if it's spelled wrong and in weirdmageddon part 2 it's thanks to Dipper pretty much reminding me about that even if there are hard times in real life she can face them as long as she faces them with her family and he'll save his soul adventures for adulthood she decides to leave Maybelline a place that was so perfect and also rejecting ego and in the same part where all of that happens we finally see Bill's plans begin to fall through in the first crack and builds armor begins to form at the end of Lee McKinnon part 3 with Gideon finally rejects ego and decides to fight those henchmaniacs I mean come on he doesn't even know if he's going to exist after this and the only thing he says to different is will you tell her what I did? Showing that he truly does love Mabel and it was getting into ego and his selfish act that led Bill to return to gravity falls in the first place in speaking of which stand and forward giving into ego when the zodiac failed is what led to a small wind for Bill at that point of the episode and when they had a talk Dipper and Mabel with distracting billwhen that was happening when Stanford were having a talk doing that they finally realized how much ego was playing in their lives they finally put aside ego and they finally realized Stan in particular realized what they had to do and in the final part before his defeat bill is stealing with a fully developed stand a guy who's realized the part that ego was playing in his life hurting his family and ultimately the world as well I mean he did say you're a real wise guy but you made one fatal mistake you messed with my family build forces character development because he embodies a single flaw that all the characters have and that's ego and I mean the kind of selfishness self arrogance and pride kind of ego and build himself is a creature of pure ego everything he does for his own enjoyment he will never sacrifice that for anyone or anything else but himself and at the end of gravity falls it ended happily because they managed to beat ego and in order to beat ego in a way you have to beat billand thanks to them rejecting ego Bill cipher is nothing but a faded memory that is if you ignore the whole him having that secret return message at the end of weird to make an appointment 3 before he died and as a KZbinr in the video Bill ciphers one fatal mistake said the most important thing they learned is that don't let ego take control of you it's thanks to the pines family rejecting ego that weirdmageddon did not spread across the entire universe that the older pine twins reconciled and and it happily and that Bill cipher if you ignore the evil return message he made in weirdmageddon part 3 is a little more than a faded memory that is if you ignore the message he had before he died in weirdmageddon part 3

Something tells me the one who got rid of the identity of the author was Bill and the reason he was messing with Dipper was because he knew about Stan's plan to bring back forward and since that still let a possibility for the nightmare realm to go into their dimension he wants to make sure Dipper didn't interfere also considering how many depictions of build their were around town he was probably also being taken in a way and exploring the entire planet and keeping an eye on the human race in general so I'm pretty sure he was aware of Dipper and his arrival for a very long time but he was hesitant to engage with him correlation what does zodiac that could vanquish him because he was pretty much like Ford but younger and when he first encountered dipper Mabel and Zeus he probably realized that the ones who are responsible for stopping him with the zodiac what either just kids or not the sharpest tool in the shed so they aren't things he should avoid their pawns that he can control

2:32 I just wanted to say, yes Disney let some weird things slide but multiple times they rejected anything involving the LGTBQ club. -except the police but a lot of other stuff was rejected like for example. Dipper was supposed to be a trans character but Disney said no. So now we have a chapter that has subtle hints to say he is trans. And during the love fart episode or whatever it is called. There was supposed to be to girls kissing but that was also rejected

Disney absolutely was hesitant with any LGBTQ+ representation I won't deny, but dipper being trans or even trans-coded is nothing but headcanon. Alex Hirsch has never said that. And it's a theory that annoys me a lot because I feel like it just goes to champion one show for something that they never actually did, and distracts from other shows and pieces of media actually making, or at least fighting to make, these strides.

Xerjoff Le Capitale. This is by far the safest Xerjoff, maybe even the best. People might think it’s feminine, but the leather note says otherwise. I have a sweet tooth, it has top notes of strawberry, caramel, peach, and labdanum. Base notes are bourbon vanilla and benzoin. And when the journal said that he might be watching he clearly meant bill and it's clear that when they be built it was because the pines family characters each finally rejected ego especially the original mystery twins in bill ciphers first appearance when people gave into ego when he thought Stan hated him that gave Bill The edge but when he ended up pulling himself out of the ego self-pity state it ended up defeating bill and in a way it was Bill I mean in a way it was dip up putting his ego instead of his safety and in turn bodily autonomy that gave Bill the opportunity to get closer to getting his journal and in sock Opera the same episode where Bill took over Dipper's body Mabel finally got over ego and let her own needs AKA being boy crazy one of her most important character traits finally take a back seat
