The Gay Dolphin is the best! My daughter paid fifty cents to open the outhouse door downstairs. We laughed for five minutes! It really is tons of fun to look around in there!

Thank you for this. I grew up going on family vacation to mrytle beach. Spent two weeks every summer there. From 1975 to 1992. I havent been back since. I heard so much is gone and has changed. Glad to see that was still there. The shark section brought back memories. I think adam the woo needs that big foot statue. He could replace his passanger seat in large marge with the statue.

I didn't know this place still existed. We went to Myrtle Beach every year when I was young and I always made a trip there to get one of those shell people or a sand dollar. That was in the late 60's early 70's. It looked just the same then.

I guess you probably know that downtown (old) Knoxville's main street is named Gay Street. I think there was a debate about changing it in the 80s or 90s, I'm so happy the name stands! I love the 🐙! I wonder what it's made of and if that whole case is made by the same artist. Thanks for showing us these trippy places!

Ah yes, the Gay Dolphin! My childhood was chock full of good times on the MB grand strand, and many a quarter was spent in the arcade next door! A long time ago, the dolphin fountain in the beginning of the video used to have a really cool "oil string drip" addition in a round circular formation that would have drops of thick oil running down thin wires from the ceiling, all the way down to the fountains pool

This truly reminds me of Gatlinburg's Rebel Co'ner before it burned down. The merchandise was very different, though. The Reb had a massive display of red cedar novelty items, real leather moccasins, various types of hillbilly hats, snowglobes galore, anything they could get with black bears themes and the smell of the place! Not a bad smell - just... different. With a strong undertone of leather and cedar. When I was a small kid, it was magical.

babalon 777 Seriously, my Great Uncle owns one of the factories outside of Cherokee that manufactures souvenirs, including rubber tomahawks. (Ever been in the gift shops around the Appalachians and seen those little buff colored tags with a native American printed on them in brown ink and say "made by the Cherokee"? That's my Great Uncle. You can get them just about anywhere. I'd try Foster's in Gatlinburg.

The Carpetbagger You really missed a CLASSIC! It took up a whole block next to Ripleys Odditorium. It was huge, and old. I think it opened around 1950 and burned (along with Ripley's) in the late 80s/early early 90s. Ripley's actually used to exit through the second floor mezzanine, in the middle of the statues of Jesus department.

Jaynie Beth I'll check it out ASAP! I haven't been there since the mid 80s and I'm kinda stuck in the Bay Area but I may have a chance soon, thanks! Btw, I absolutely refused to play a cowgirl as a kid, ALWAYS had to be a native (part Blackfoot), so I went through a lot of those tomahawks.

Lol!!.. I had no idea what was coming up, especially looking at the title..(gay dolphin).but quite interesting..in its own mundane way..CB,do you buy souvenirs or grab relics from the sites you visit??.I can imagine ,if you took at least one item from each site you explored(if it was feasible ,of course),and made a collection of it, you would probably have a most intriguing and bizarre display that you could talk about!!!!..we could See it now..."the Carpetbagger Museum"...bring your curiosity at the front entrance ...and leave with a bag full of amazing stories!!!!🗿🔮📚🎭🎪🌎🐸
