I loved this game. Played and finished it for the first time this year and since then im watching any video I encounter that explains the story. I hope one day the devs come out and actually explain it themselves because its so open to interpretation. But i think they will never do that, because its intentionally designed to be like that.

This game is a passion peace. It's one that you play a lot and become a master. After that ... You realise how beautiful it flows and how easy decisions are. I completed the game in 3 hours with 0 deaths and that was 80 hours of gameplay. You just need to learn the game but if you are playing it for 20 hours then yes it will be hard.

Im so glad i payed returnal.. one if the mos lt unforgettable games i have ever played. The combat was sooo smooth the graphics were amazing and the colours stood out to me soooo much. I wish they make a Returnal 2.

@@josemohinio I can definitely see it happening, and even if not let's hope other studios adopt the great combat fundamentals Housemarque built into another game.

Great review! I actually played Control, and I liked many aspects of it, the comparison in that section alone might make me give Returnal a shot (if I have time lol). The scripting and presentation is way better than the previous review, felt really natural and structural at the same time. 10/10. Glad that you're back, I hope you will upload more!

@@mohad12211 Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and am happy to hear that an old friend is doing well. And as you are also one of my oldest viewers, it's great to know from you that my videos are improving. Lastly, I do recommend Returnal despite everything I was saying, it has a lot of great aspects.

Hey thank you for the video. I am curious, did you play this game on PC? I felt like it was made for PS5, the controller made it harder and there was a lot of haptic and sound features and really enhanced the game
@PotatoOnFire9 күн бұрын
@@johannleo1282 Yes I played with Keyboard and Mouse which honestly felt great. But I agree, it seems it was made with a controller in mind. But if that's the case, I think they should've at least accounted for some of these differences and adjusted them when porting it to PC.
@johannleo12828 күн бұрын
@@PotatoOnFire I have only played the PS5 version so i don't know how the port stacks up. The only thing I know is the difficulty is likely higher with controller, a friend played it on PC and had a similar experience than you, got through it in 2-3 days. It took much longer, probably a month or two. I guess adjusting the difficulty depending of being a mouse and keyboard or game pad would be a tricky task, so I can't fault the devs for not nailing that. I just wanted to throw this into the conversation as something to consider.
@PotatoOnFire8 күн бұрын
@@johannleo1282 Very interesting to see another with a similar experience and also KB/M. While I agree that tuning the difficulty might be too much and I can't really think of a way at the moment to improve it indeed, but at the same time the devs could've at least acknowledged that as a design decision. At the very least for example, let players know as they start the game that it was designed with controller in mind, and that playing KB/M might affect the experience. This would've made me feel less confused about the game and the feeling that I was "playing it wrong".
@johannleo12828 күн бұрын
@@PotatoOnFire yes indeed, a lot of games do that. It’s an easy thing to do.

There was a lot to love about Returnal. But as someone who actually has things I have to do with my life, playing a no-saving Rogue-like is not something I have time for.
@PotatoOnFire13 күн бұрын
That's totally fair, I had to refamiliarize myself a couple of times with the game as I quit mid-run and come back a few days later.

it does have saving tho.... they added it a few months after it released

@@yourlocalhuman3526 I just learned this recently that quitting mid-run was not a thing before, which was very interesting to hear given that I played the game much later.

@@PotatoOnFire no worries bro. Tbf I share a lot of your frustrations with the game. It's in my top 10 games though. The positives were so strong that the negatives always seemed like minor annoyances. I recently beat the game 2 times back to back after a year of not playing it and it was great fun. Mostly because I knew the ins and outs of the whole thing and just speed ran killing everything but it's one of the rare games where I can actually enjoy playing it more than once.
@shaka_lutherking71524 күн бұрын
@laioren I know the game doesn't really tell you much, but Once you learn how to play and actually understand how items and weapon stats work, the game can be beaten relatively quickly. Without spoiling it, The game kinda splits itself in half, a run can be only 3 levels, and with the right weapons and upgrades, you can beat a run in two hours or less. It's really not as unforgiving as you think it is
@shaka_lutherking71524 күн бұрын
"Was I playing the game wrong?" Short answer, yes, lol. You don't understand how the weapon stats work. You think ether is pointless. The timed laser rooms unnecessary. Consumables useless, don't understand the story at all, you don't like any of the systems... Lol. I know the game doesn't tell you much, but You were stumped by things because you didn't try to look anything up. I struggled with that initially, but once I sought out help in co-op or looking things up on reddit, I realized I was playing it wrong myself. Liking things can be subjective obviously, but this game is amazing, all your constructive criticisms aren't needed, the game rocks as it is. I just don't think it's for you and you didn't understand it at all, and that's fine, game is still fire tho
@PotatoOnFire4 күн бұрын
@@shaka_lutherking7152 Thanks for the detailed comment, 2 things I might disagree with you on. First, I never play anything and look stuff up, I almost always play through games blind because that is part of the experience, and I believe looking things up should never be a necessity while playing. Second, my constructive criticism being "unneeded" is never "constructive" in and of itself. I can disagree with comments and still appreciate that people have had different experiences/opinions for me to consider. That's part of the intent behind my video. I liked the game, I think it was for me, I'm just hoping the next iteration is much better. Cheers!
