Despite hosting over seven hundred uploads from my time with RETURNAL, this clip is the first of its kind: a succinct clearing of the Abyssal Scar Containment Room with an Electropylon Driver. A few noteworthy events occur in the 1.5 minutes of this video:
To begin, an Electropylon Driver is not optimal for this situation. When compared to other weapons in Selene's arsenal, its projectiles are relatively slow-moving, nor do they inflict splash damage. Because (most of) the hostiles of this particular encounter move freely in all three dimensions, players need more than precise aim-they need to anticipate where the enemy will be and hope. Even with a Streamlined Chamber and familiarity with this encounter, I struggle to keep up with the many, many Anomos zipping about the arena.
Building on this previous point, I make a significant tactical blunder in Round II. At 0:33, I choose to close the range between me and a distant Abyssal Trichozoid, which churns out Anomos after Anomos. In itself, this is not problematic; on the contrary, knowing the weapon I wield and its capabilities, I consciously choose to fight at a closer range to increase my odds of striking a fast-moving target. Rather, I err at approximately 0:40 when I choose to stay at this range, surrounded by a swarm of Anomos, rather than use my Icarian Grapnel to shuttle Selene to safety. As a consequence of my decision, my Adrenaline-granted Shield is broken.
Lastly, I had hoped to use this conflict to rid myself of the Malfunction that afflicts me. However, scoring melee kills in the Abyssal Scar is difficult to do, particularly when pressed by so many hostiles simultaneously. I make a good effort in Round III when I face off against the two Typhonops that spawn, but a premature attack at 1:03 leaves me just shy of my goal.
