Congratulations on the house, the kiddo, and the new car! You played a big part in inspiring me to buy my own 2002 Sequoia, slowly starting to chip away at destinations and parks as I struggle for free time. Glad to hear that you're still chugging along!

Still got my own 2004 Sequoia. Same color as yours. Mine has 186,000 miles. Paid $4000 for it in 2020. Does not miss a beat. I'm going to keep it forever.

Discovered you when I was researching Sequoias and stayed for the classy content! Glad to see you guys back, and would lore more national park content and general goofing around with the Sequoia. I bought a 2007 Sequoia and have built it up very much like yours! And I have a couple GX470’s in my garage that my kids drive. Big fan of the Toyota powerhouses. Good to see you guys back.

So good to see you back . Well , with the weather like it is , you could start a tornado build , lols. My wife and I have went through the uninspired period for several years . Its natural , but it nearly buried my wife. She lives on her artistic inspiration. So , im looking forward to what may come . Good to see you guys .

Welcome back and congrats on the upcoming addition. You’ve been around a while … disregard the keyboard warriors. Some people are always grumpy and wanting to spread bad vibes. I have two points of wisdom for you. 1) Travel light with your newborn. You don’t the need biggest and most massive accessories. I used to run errands with a few diapers in one cargo pocket and a sandwich baggie of wipes in the other, and a change of clothes in the car. If you run through those, call it a day and head home. LOL 2) Don’t change your hobbies for the baby. We resumed camping when our youngest was 6 weeks old. We moved to a larger tent, that would hold a pack-n-play, but we kept on traveling. To this day, our kids still love the camping environment. Best of luck with everything and post videos when it feels right.

Welcome back! Congrats on the new babies (human and non-human). I almost bought a GX470 before finding the sequoia and am glad I went that route. With three kids and the third row removed there’s so much trunk space, it’s like having a truck bed. My sequoia is still chugging along at 365k. Let me know if you’re ever up around Mt Rainier on your travels, there’s some great areas to explore and wheel around here 😊

When you said that you guys had a 2010 Prius I found that funny because of about the same time you got your Prius is about same time I got my Prius which is 2010 but in gold to compliment my '02 Sequoia lol, things definitely have changed because for me I have changed jobs got a lift on the Sequoia now and have a trailer too for overlanding lol.

We where thinking about wrapping our nissan. I'm personally tired of drab or rather boring mass production colors . And a wrap , from my understanding gives a decent addition of protection to the vehicle

Welcome back! The GX is a great car, I had the same thought process that you had considering it over a 4Runner which I own as well. I've modified it and overland with it all over. Mine is a '12 with 183K, just a few things to look out for that are common enough to think about with this platform maintenance-wise as they climb in mileage to keep an eye out for: 1) Front timing cover leak 2) Radiator leak 3) Coolant valley leak 4) P2714/P0761 and any kind of transmission shifting issues when the car is cold. I just replaced my transmission, though, I believe the original owner never changed the fluid, so I think at your mileage you can avoid that with good maintenance going forward. My wife's 4Runner has 195K and it is more of a dinosaur 🦕 with less creature comforts, it's more reliable, but I prefer driving and living with the GX. To be clear, the GX is still reliable over the life of the vehicle especially when compared to other brands, and every car has their issues, but those are just some of its issues to be aware of that I wanted to mention since you've been burned by your previous vehicles. Enjoy!

@@DeadOnTrail You wheel pretty hard don't you? We do pretty mild stuff and spend a lot of time on highway so the Toyotas work great for us. The 392 definitely looks really sweet though. You're right though. If I drove one, it might ruin me haha.

Yeah, I feel like a lot of us with Sequoias in real life and on KZbin eventually starts eyeing the GX460 and LX570. Myself included. Good to see you back! I'd be super curious to hear your experience of the newer ATRAC on the GX460 vs your Sequoia. I've never tried the newer versions so wonder if you will notice the difference on your level of trips.
@TheFraziers6 ай бұрын
That might be a hard comparison to make. Unfortunately, the ABS and traction control systems on our sequoia have always been really unreliable. The vehicle seems to be eternally plagued with wheel speed sensor or gyro sensor issues despite having replaced a lot of those things. That being said, I don’t know if ATRAC has kicked in even one time in all our years using the Sequoia so I don’t have any tangible experience with it to compare. Our long travel rear suspension also keeps the wheels on the ground so well that it hasn’t been needed at any time. From other anecdotal experience I’ve heard, ATRAC on the Land Cruiser vehicles (GX and LX included) seem to be the best available, even better than the 4Runner. I have no idea if there’s any scientific evidence for that, it’s simply what I’ve heard. If for nothing else, I expect it to be far better than the Sequoia.
@andyloucks6 ай бұрын
@@TheFraziers Yeah that's my expectation as well, just that ATRAC works better and faster on the newer and more premium LC-based models. I think I've seen you comment on GX460 OFF-ROAD as well, and seeing his experience with ATRAC makes me wonder. But I just took my 2006 Sequoia on a super muddy and snowy trip offroading in the creeks here in Alberta and even then the ATRAC barely had to kick in, or at least I rarely noticed it.

That Prius (3rd?) had major head gasket issues. The 2gr v6 did have a bit of issues in the first few years 08 included along with the 08 being the first year on the Highlander generation. 07 was the last of the amazing 3mz v6 in the Highlander. The gx is very slept on and if yall keep it for the long hall it’ll go multiple times over what the miles are now.
@TheFraziers6 ай бұрын
I had heard about the 3rd Gen Prius having those problems but the 08 Highlander really surprised me.
@yeahman19756 ай бұрын
Was there a big difference between the 07 and 08 Highlander that you think made the 08 such a head gasket lemon?
@TheFraziers6 ай бұрын
There was a different engine/product generation between the two but I mostly feel like we just got unlucky with the 08. Haven’t heard of many problems with that year.
