How exciting that Michael will be able to head up the restoration of the organ! My first job was apprentice piano technician and I did much of the repetitive, fiddly bits of replacement of hammers, felts, dampers and so on. Of course pianos and organs are different creatures entirely but they have many things in common as well. No project is too big for the Pethericks, when I think of all the things you take on, it is amazing. All the best to all of you!

Will the convent chapel ever become a consecrated chapel again so intimate services, weddings, baptisms, etc. could be held there? If so, where will the organ be placed so it is a prominent fixture in this beautiful building? As others have stated, I can’t wait until it can be played again. I’m sure the sound will be dynamic! I remember my first experience at NP Manders Ltd Bethnal Green London….as an apprentice renovating Pipe Organ Bellows all stripped back with new soft leather and hot animal glue with an old traditional iron used to pressed the glued leather in place…. A real art. Boy was the animal glue stinky when hot. They are definitely in for a Treat. I am sure Michael has done his own research though. 😏👍
