Returning the 2025 Volvo EC40: My Final Thoughts

I bought a 2024 c40…love it! Solved the visibility problem by vying a digital rear view mirror. This is a Volvo accessory that the dealer can install. And it should be standard in the c40. (Or they should move the existing rear takes higher) I have the single motor rear wheel drive….still plenty fast and awesome to drive. Black with the standard chrome rims.

@@EricLevinson-z8b They currently don't offer it standard but you are right, they should. Polestar is doing so with the 4 so I think it's just a matter of time really. I tested the real wheel drive this summer as well and it is plenty fast but wow that AWD sends you into the back of your seat lol. Not cheap on tires however

Agree. I test drove the twin motor/AWD. Honestly. EVs are so fast off the line, that there really isn’t a need for 400 HP. Way too fast! I said to the dealer….install the digital mirror and I will buy. If you don’t, I won’t buy They installed and I am very happy!

I'm running the C40 Twin model 2024. I agree pretty much with your comments-I don't like the Black version but that's just personal choice. Its a nice car to drive -quick and quiet. The suspension on UK roads is fairly good but can be noisy on bumps. I agree with your comments on the interior and I think flexibility say of the digital panel could be a lot better. My main gripe is that mine has a WLTP range figure of 340 miles but I am getting 250 miles in summer and 220 in winter which is dissappointing.Overall though I think Volvo should have made much more improvements for the 25MY .

@@petermalkin2701 That range discrepancy is a lot more than expected for sure and yes 2025 should have seen greater improvements but I fear they are listening to all the naysayers and pausing on EV development which would be a mistake in my opinion.

I have a 2023 C40 Ultimate which I love. Agree with the critiques on the interior and display size, but perfered the C40 interior layout and openness over the Polestar 2, which basically the same car. The rear window view doesn't bug me much as the limited view of the rear cam. Hopefully Volvo will give the interior a facelift in the future, similar to the EX90.

@@accountability2000 I also prefer it over the Polestar 2 but the real question will be do you prefer it over the Polestar 4 that will be coming out soon? I skipped over the 3 I know but the 3 doesn't appeal to me as much because of its price point

You're right, the exterior is great! It really reminds me of the new Citroen e-c4's and Opel e-mokka (I know u dont have them in NA). The centre console/infotainment touch screen really does look egregious and out of place compared to the rest of the car

@@EnclosedLoop I believe they will change all of this in the coming years, maybe 2026. It makes no sense but I love driving this car so much. Thanks for watching, we appreciate it.
