that was extremely cringey to me, TBH. The only time chanting "USA" is remotely appropriate is if you're breaking a world record or winning an international competition. He's got 28kg to go for that.

What's Wes' body weight? I like him, great lifter. All of the Cal Strength guys are good souls. Wish our own Clarence Kennedy would lift though, never seen speed like his. Apart from the Chinese.

Great video! When you think about it, Dave's vision is doable. I mean, shit, American weightlifters say "Chinese this, Russian, that, Persian this, Latin that." Guess what, folks. We Americans are a melting pot. All nationalities and ethnicities and builds and this and that are here... in America. We can make American Weightlifting Great Again.

i am not a troll. name one north american that has done anything on the world stage, not juniors? sure they make it and lift in the d c and maybe the b class at worlds and olympics. the only i can name one christine girard that did well and won as a senior (bronze 08 and gold 12). cj cummings is your only hope at the moment but his snatch does not hold up against top lifters. its not hating, its just a fact, weight lifting in the us and canada is not all that big.

but usa weightlifters don't use steroids like all those other damn CHEATS!!! I really hope people sense the irony in my comment but then again I will be likely be called out for a fucking a keyboard warrior.

The drugs the rest of the world is on might be part of the reason, however not the sole reason. Another reason is that weightlifting in other nations is held in a much higher regard with many athletes able to go professional and have weightlifting as their focus. Also, their training and their athletes are just stronger. They train more than just snatch and clean and jerk. many of them incorporate a lot more variation in their training so the athletes become strong humans in everything not just in snatch and clean and jerk. USA needs to adapt their training principles and the sport just needs more funding too.
@Yawgmothmel
@Yawgmothmel 6 жыл бұрын
And why do you think they are stronger and train more? their whole training system is made for an enhanced athlete, not for Naturals which would take longer times to recover. They are stronger because they take the drugs and pass the tests, There is no way anyone will break the 246kg world record in the C&J @105kg without the use of PEDs, is just not possible, if you look at Ilya Ilyin doing the 246 for WR it look so easy that it was obvious he was juicing. Unless IWF decides to wipe all records and start clean i don't see how we are defeating the russians, chinese, iranians, azerbajanis etc etc etc.
@jackalacka2887
@jackalacka2887 6 жыл бұрын
They need to remove it from the Olympics, which they're gonna do because they aren't gonna be able to get the doping under control, and then create fool proof tests so there's no way to pass a test when you're using. And then yes wipe the records and start fresh.

Unless strength as Mark Rippetoe as been preaching takes center stage again, America will continue to flounder in a sport where steroids are assumed for success. The strongest athletes win. That’s the sport.

Americans usually (at least until very recently) don't get into weightlifting until their 20s. Lu started at around 13. You'll never be able to beat that experience Now we have some of the best junior lifters in the world.
