59:13 "And your husband started drinking again all on his own." Odin has been trying to get Thor to start drinking again since the beginning of the game. When Thor and Odin came to Kratos' house at the start Odin called Magni and Modi "useless" this cause Thor to react. When Odin saw Thor's reaction he moved a cup of mead closer for Thor to drink.

Most players don't really notice Ingrid's "sacrifice" to taking that hit from Thor swinging Mjolnir which is pretty sad but not surprising as it happens so fast.

21:24 Ha! Fenrir wants to play fetch with a tree. The thing is that Kratos could probably pull that off. Now I really want to see Kratos just hurl a tree off into the horizon and Giant Fenrir running after it knocking over everything in his path.

So, again, a lot to talk about, but I'll leave it at Thor's family dynamics. Magni was the son of the giantess Jarnsaxa, Thor's other lover. It's unclear whether or not Thor and Sif were married at the time, but they clearly had an established relationship because Modi was born in that same period. Essentially, Sif and Jarnsaxa were both pregnant at the same time, and Jarnsaxa was implied to be killed (potentially by Thor at Sif's request, or by Sif herself in jealousy or retribution) shortly after Magni was born. Sif, however, couldn't bring herself to hate Magni, and agreed to raise him as her own alongside Modi. This was, most likely, around 115 years before they died. Their family life was complex: Odin continued a cycle of physical and/or emotional abuse in the guise of discipline that was Aesir tradition, passed down from Odin's father Bor, and Bor's father Búri. Thor and Sif continued this tradition, not at all aided by their alcoholism. The Aesir are barbaric; this was what they thought family should be. At the same time, there were definitive moments of genuine tenderness and connection, as evidenced by Thor and Sif's shared memories and grief over their sons, and their projection of the fault of their fates onto other people. Magni and Modi were implied to have had an equally complex relationship with Thrúd, as she seemed to hold them in a certain regard and showed momentary grief while looking at their belongings, but also made claims against their competence, like siblings that would bicker back and forth. And, of course, all evidence leads us to believe that Thor and Sif raised Thrúd with a gentle hand, though an overprotective one. Now, they overcompensate in their hostility to others, because of how they lost their two boys. Much like how aggressive Kratos is in Atreus' protection, considering his own past. Also, I know they're getting close to the end of the game, and a lot of us that have known most of this for years now are eager to share, but let's try to keep it spoiler-free. It'd suck pretty bad if they got spoiled right before the finish line.

Aside from the spectacular cinematography in that entire bar fight, did you notice how Mjölnir and Ingrid started their own little fisticuffs in mid-air while that happened? 😂 I really love Mina Sundwall as the actress for Thrúd, and how she played that scene with her addicted father was just so powerful in how intimate it felt. You can tell she has been in this situation many, many times, but at the same time she does not want to give up on her father, no matter how much he seems to ignore and throw away her pleas and advice. That is the heartbreaking reality of loving someone with addiction. In the end, they can only help themselves out of it. And Thor once again chose wrongly to attack Atreus in Niflheim, because he can't see that so much of his misery is Odin's fault.

Now would certainly be a good time to do some side-questing if you're in the mood for it. That area in Vanaheim is absolutely rife with exploration, so if you're in any doubt, just do a perimeter sweep. Plus, I'm sure Ratatoskr would appreciate finding those stags!

All jokes aside that is one of the things I most enjoy about this playthrough. @donkeykong45434 күн бұрын
if loki misread the mask the first time then why did it light up in helhime?
@peterjackson60112 күн бұрын
My theory is that the mask piece WAS there before someone swiped it and put it in Niflheim on Odin's orders. The obvious suspect is Heimdall, who was sent to Helheim with Atreus and Thrud AND immediately left them to go on his own mission. Odin wanted Atreus to screw up so that he would feel more desperate to prove himself, and to make up for it. Because as much as he wants the mask completed, he wants Atreus to seek his approval even more. So he has someone hide the final piece in Hel. But not just anywhere in Hel. No, it has to be directly behind Garm, where Atreus would have no choice but to release him or kill him. You don't need to be Heimdall to predict the method Atreus would use. But if you needed to steal the mask piece quickly and quietly while Atreus and Thrud were busy breaking Garm's chains? Being Heimdall and having one of Odin's ravens nearby just might help... The plan almost worked, too. The only thing Odin didn't anticipate was Atreus having the humility to say "I fucked up, I'm gonna go." Because if there's one thing that Odin doesn't know how to predict, it's a well-adjusted child who was raised by a good father.

So first off (as I'm watching this)...a lot of people describe this area as really fun. For me it wasn't. I felt that the lack of direction made it a time-sink; there wasn't a lot of interesting things (forget the dragon for now), and the day-time puzzles were just annoying (combined with the lack of direction). I think this was a level that either clicks or doesn't. My biggest problem with the level however was the root-cause: Birgir's plight. I thought the 'heroic deed' for a character that basically had little to say prior to the previous episode was just "huh?"... it was a weird way to introduce what is a major area (at least in side-play)... and it made me think this whole area was either developed completely independently, or very late in dev. I didn't buy it then, but when I stumbled around trying to find the solutions to kinda-petulant puzzles, it just made me like this area less (and especially the conclusion to it). Maybe I should have waited before commenting (not having watched it all)... but I just couldn't help myself!!! There were so many bad level design aspects to this area... at least for me... I hope you both enjoyed it (future me may well edit this comment).

So the writing is so inconsistent in this game... there's some really good parts, and then they have the scene where Thrud is convincing her mother to open herself to Atreus.... despite the fact he MURDERED HER SON...and led to the murder of her other son. I just don't get why the writers would do this.

@AdelaideBen1 your whole comment is about thruds conversation with sif with sifs probable thoughts. Which doesn't make it poor writing as we know why both characters are saying what they are saying
@AdelaideBen14 күн бұрын
@@luckypanda7707 why would there be any expectation that Atreus would be seen with anything other than hatred - and to be honest, Thrud's acceptance of her brother's murder also does not make any sense - especially if they are being mis-treated by Thor (hence are as much victims as anyone). If you think that Thrud chastising her mother for not saying "more than a cold hello" to her son's murderer is great writing then of course you're entitled to your view. For me, this is Disney-channel-level writing. But let's not have an argument over opinions, and let each have their own.
