Years later we are finally returning to the hidden Cambodian paradise that tourists don't know about to see what it is like now and how it has changed. It's our favourite island in Cambodia and is probably one of Cambodia's best kept secrets, with crystal clear water, white sandy beaches and no people around, it's the perfect wild beach escape for any travellers looking for somewhere more off the beaten path and to disconnect from the world. This tropical island is a great alternative to Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem and perfect for anyone travelling Cambodia on a budget as well as anyone looking for a luxurious escape on a remote island, so it leaves us wondering, why no one visits Koh Ta Kiev island in Cambodia?

Taking the boat to Koh Ta Kiev:
You need to book your accommodation in advance online on the island to take the boat.
There are currently 2 available places to stay there...

They will then book you a place on their boat. The boats leave from Ream Beach now, not Otres Beach. It is around 20 minutes in a Tuk Tuk from Otres beach. The Tuk Tuk costs $8 - $10 one way. The boat costs $7.5 one way (per person)

The best part about Koh Ta Kiev is how few people know about Koh Ta Kiev. The vibe there is very welcoming, calm, and friendly. It's a unique place, and I'm very glad it hasn't been flooded with hyper 20-somethings like Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem. It's a beautiful place to relax, and I hope it remains the same in the coming decades.

That’s sad. It’s such a paradise so idk why they just gave up and abandoned the place like that. A little update and clean up it could’ve been a tourist destination for extra incomes. I hope the Cambodian revise the island back to life.

Would recommend visiting Angkor Wat in Siem Reap and the islands. Kampot is also a nice town and Battambang is interesting too. It's fun to do a road trip around Cambodia if you can drive a motorbike, if not there's buses to get from places easily. You can buy most things once you arrive so don't bother bringing too much, clothes and souvenirs are so cheap there. Best to have some USD on you since it's the easiest to exchange and can be used to pay for things there too as well as in local currency. Hope you have a good trip 🙂

I went to Cactus at the beginning of 2020 and the island was a paradise! I remember the Last Point, such a magical place too. We cleaned the beach every day and the vibe was so cool, full of people from all around the world. I'm so sad to see that now everything is abandoned and that there are plans to build resorts. :(

Yoooo Olivia you need proper shoes to explore jungle , flipflop are banned lol remember there s potential dangerous snakes and all 👽 so sad to see all the plastic trash . All those roots bungalows location abandoned probably because of the pandemic it s heartbreaking for local family and like you said it ll be taking over by big investment companies soon . Sadly, the govt are taking money from China. This island will end up like Lombok. I’m in my 40s now and in the late 90s visited Koh Phi Phi in Thailand, before that movie with Leonardo di Caprio brought mass tourism and over development to Phi Phi and wrecked it forever. I still have my 90s film photos.
