Eric Putkonen explains the phrase "returning to the natural state" which is sometimes used to describe enlightenment and awakening. He also refers to Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and the cessation of the revolutions of the mind. Basically, leave it be and let it settle.
This video is one of 275+ videos about nonduality, enlightenment, and living awake and engaged. Eric speaks in a down-to-earth and straightforward style while simplifying concepts of Advaita / nonduality.
If you give me a thumbs up on my videos, they will go into wider distribution on KZbin. If that seems like a good thing to you, give me a Like!

If I try to let the activity in my mind come to a natural halt, my mind keeps on starting up by itself again and again. I catch myself only after some useless trains of thought, and again valuable time has been wasted, where I would have have better been still and aware watching the flow of the field. The best thing I could find yet to avoid that is the "noting" technique, where you use a part of the mind to note the other part of the mind going on trains of thought. The unsatisfactory feeling remains that I always need to keep a small part of the mind alert.

@@Rang_Birangi_Jokes There is no such motto...it is not about mottos or affirmations. It is also not about keeping something in mind or remembering something. It is about seeing what is as it really is. Until the truth is tasted directly, nothing will make life a bliss in all aspects. No motto, no affirmation, no thing to try to remember, etc.

Be still, be silent, and be fully aware without thinking. This would be the equivalent to "looking" but seeing happens of itself like a grace. You just keep looking until it is seen. Secondarily, look at the "me" you think and feel yourself to be and question it until it is clearly seen that you are not that. Thus removing misidentification which makes it easier to see who you really are.

Hello Eric, i've heard that during meditation, our karma begins to unravel very quickly. Does that mean the more i meditate the faster i can become awakened or enlightened?

My understanding: Yes and no. It depends what exactly u mean by meditation. I can tell of my own experience, when i am on my cushion I react/resist less towards mental conditionings and therefor they actually can pass faster. Frank Yang said something like "enlightenment is a coincidence but you can increase your chance for this coincidence through meditation". It really depends on the individuel. You can also go further from enlightenmend through meditation. Best is having self experience, trying it out and finding out. hope that could help a bit

Hi Eric. Absolutely love your channel ever since I found it a couple years ago. Had my first experience with the “natural state” in 2017 and have been seeking answers ever since, going in and out of the state for years. I’ve always wondered if “enlightenment” was really that simple, or if there was more to it. I’ve also wondered how religious belief is related. Would you say that the “natural state” might be perceived as a heaven and the “unnatural state” might be perceived as a hell by ancient people. Hard to equate the “natural state” to something supernatural, even though it often comes with synchronicities that suggest otherwise. Thinking it might finally be time to put the seeking to rest and just enjoy the mystery that is the natural state. Any thoughts on this?

Enlightenment is not exactly that simple. It has been called returning to the natural state, but the natural state would also require dispelling the ignorance and misunderstandings we have acquired in life. As I said, newborns are the closest to the natural state and they live without a "me". The "me" is created later and grows in life. Identification is one of the various (mostly subconscious) doings...agitation that keeps things from really settling.

@@NondualityChannel Thank you so much for the reply. As a weary seeker who has come back to the state time and time again, perhaps "identification" is one of the things that continues to agitate the water. I think I see what you mean. There is nothing to do. Nothing to "figure out". :)
