I'm pretty sure when the magic was stolen from Sunset Shimmer, it went through the portal and stole it's abilities too, which explains why it could open up portals. Just like how when Fluttershy's magic went through Spike it gave him the ability to talk. Also, the reason why Twilight became evil was because she was wielding the magic of friendship, something she didn't know how to use. The 5 main characters can gain their magic back whenever, in almost unlimited supply because they possess their element innately. The time loop episode is the season finale, so you can get ready to see it whenever it aires.

The opening sequence of Equestria Girls 3 is the opening sequence of Iron Man 2, Twilight built a portable Tirek device, and Flash Sentry has EVEN LESS use in this movie than he did in the previous movie. He only appears TWICE throughout the ENTIRE film. At least he had more screen time in the last movie, but even before then, he still had more use and did more things in the FIRST movie, than he had in the two following movies.

Twilight just built the stupid thing, the magic did the rest. Also, Crystal Prep seems like they've become that group of people where they don't feel surprised or excited about winning yet another year of these games, but are seriously taken aback when they finally lose.

+Benjamin Reveles Yeah, I feel like Hasbro kinda realized the whole Flash thing was a mistake and now they're slowly trying to back off from it. Personally I don't mind Flash that much, but if they're going to give the main character a love interest he better darned well be more fleshed out than a random background pony. I guess there's just not enough time to devote to Flash to make him an interesting character, so instead they're just kinda fading him out of the series.
