You guys do great videos, but I wish you'd spend a bit more time on sizing and fit. After describing the model's weight and measurements...it would be great to see him not only in the size that fits him, but also show what one size up and down looks like on him, perhaps with another model of different proportions as well. Also, how the jacket looks on with the liners out, while wearing just a single layer shirt as you would if it were warm. Thanks.

Can you please do a separate breakdown video for the Defender 3 pants? They cost $679.99 and barely got a mention in this.

Remarkable that Rev’it fixed basically all the complaints about the previous one. Added stretch, reinforcements at the impact zones, better waterproof layer. Too bad the waterproof isn’t an over/under, but that’s my only complaint now.

Quick question. The color scheme of the jacket in the review doesn't match the sand one on your website. Which is the true color of the jacket?
@aliyenal43892 жыл бұрын
The color on this jacket looks very different than the sand/black version shown in your website. Which one is more accurate? Was this one a preproduction sample?

I’m trying to decide between this or the Sand 4. I’d like to think the Gore-Tex liner in this would hold water outside better than the Hydratex liner in the Sand 4 but what about using a neck brace with this jacket? Revit mentions the Segur neck brace would work but I don’t see any mounting points on the jacket.

Does this outer shell has any water repellent treatment? Or is just the gore tex liner?
@RevZilla Жыл бұрын
It does have a DWR coating, but the main waterproofing in a downpour is from the GTX liner.
@jctv-sq4qd3 жыл бұрын
So since the outside shell isn't goretex will it still hold up when it's raining really bad?
@patrickmchugh80393 жыл бұрын
It'll still take on water since it isn't waterproof on the exterior, but that goes for every non-laminated exterior liner. You could cover it in a DWR aftermarket product to help water bead off when it starts, but that'll only last so long before the exterior soaks up.

For all those concerned that the waterproofing is in the inside and think it should be on the outside, here’s why not. First, abrasion. If you crash or just get in to the brush a lot, that will wear off the waterproofing. Second, breathability of GoreTex is dependent on how clean it is. The jacket gets much dirtier than the liner and It’s tough to clean the whole jacket but the liner is easy. Third, though GoreTex breathes ok, it’s still stuffier than nothing at all. If it’s not raining and/or if it’s hot, a non waterproof jacket is more comfortable than a waterproof one. There’s way more seams and penetrations (pockets, vents, etc.) and points of failure on the outer jacket than the liner. Lastly, like he says, you’ll pay another $400-$600 for the next step up, only to have the GoreTex compromised or ruined by vigorous riding activity. For less than $100 you could get a waterproof over-jacket if the liner thing bugs you. That’s what I do and it works great and works with every jacket I own. Motoport makes a nice one, as do plenty of others. And be honest: how much do you really ride in the rain? It’s pretty miserable really and if I can avoid it I do. Find a motel and skip a day on the road…stay in the tent and skip a day on the road…pull off at a diner until it passes… or if it’s a short trip and rain is predicted, I’ll skip it. I keep the over-jacket on longer trips just in case, but even then I generally have a chance to wait out the rain.

Seems like the Sand 4 is better than this. Most of the stuff like the pockets don't make too much sense.

It looks quite good. But how is the waterproof liner fixed in the outer shell? Or is it just another jacket which has to be worn under the outer jacket? That would be a clear fault. I need the ability to fix the waterproof shell in the outer jacket. Another question: Is there any problem combining Defender (Pro) jacket with Defender pro trousers and visa versa? Thanks.
@RevZilla3 жыл бұрын
At the 9:36 marker you can see the GTX liner and the snaps at the upper chest that connect it to the jacket liner. To make the jacket a destination style WP liner, they minimized the amount of snaps it takes to connect in with the jacket - but it still has those few. And as long as the REV'IT! jacket/pants you are looking at have the same style of connection zippers (long and/or short), their zippers will be able to connect with one another.
@Buelleskopp3 жыл бұрын
@@RevZilla Thanks for the information. The waterproof shell can be fixed in the outer shell at the upper chest. Are there a few more mounting points? Ie at the hands or at the backside?

He looks like he could easily bump up two notches in the size chart. Looks way to tight. Whats the point in buying this jacket in a Large if its too snug when the liners are in? 🙂
