The problematic part about chelsea is they buy young players without considering development opportunities Lets say you have 3 CM slots, and you have Enzo, Caicedo, Gallagher. Ideally you want 6 players for 3 positions, and a good mixture of experience of youth and experience So you have 3 young top money 1st choices Then you have the following as backups: all for huge money Lavia Ugochukwu Chukwumeka Casadei Andrey Santos Since enzo and caicedo are already so young, how are this 5 expecting to get significant minutes to grow? Its like setting up to fail

Petrovic is a difficult player to value I think, defo has under-developed skills rn but has a mentality and calmness that can’t be coached. On reflection I may be high on my number - Onana to United definitely skewed the market, but I would say his value is somewhere between a Onana/Henderson/Raya/Ramsdale: but that’s probably a big old range. I hope these two in particular are around for a long time and these numbers won’t ever be put to any test 😂

You know what is the most important strength for a winger? Being able to beat your man. So although Madueke can improve on certain things like his cutbacks,and shot selection. He’s one of the best dribblers in ALL of Europe. He’s the only one we have in the squad who can do that. With a little more development he’ll be unbelievable. Making chances for fun and teams will have to double up on him create more space in other areas for us. Idk how that’s gonna work with Palmer but I don’t get fans saying he’s trash and all that. Yet these same fans believe in mudryk to the death. I get it but getting past people and creating chances is a winger’s bread and butter. Everything else is toppings.

When you really break it down our recruitment hasn’t been bad it’s just the narrative around certain price points and not hitting on key positions like LW, goal scoring striker, and LB. If you think about our whole left side of the pitch is questionable probably the biggest reason why we’ve been underperforming. Plus loads of injuries

True, Chilwell hasn't been at his best offensively and he's lost a bit of agility cos of the numerous injuries, Cucurella offers nothing going forward which is weird cos he's got a good pass/cross in him, and can be suspect defensively at times. Enzo while not an outright flank player, when in a 4-3-3 plays as a LM and he's also not at his best. Mudryk has a long way to go in terms of playing as a proper LW in the PL, Sterling's inconsistent. Just sad man. Sad. Thank God for our RHS - Gusto/James x Palmer.

We have the benefit of hindsight. Even tho people had mixed feelings on Sterling he was the starting winger for many league winning sides. He also was one of the best players in that Finals Euro squad. Koulibali was regarded as one of the best CBs in the world for a good amount of time. Auba was a low priced stop gap who was requested by Tuchel. We all know what happened after. He's also doing very well in France so he's not completely washed. Then Injuries injuries injuries.
