In India now if u hv Adhar card u can get sim immeditely and activate also.

Glad if it has changed now ram - got my brother in law to get a sim last year when we came to India - but it took almost 24 hours to activate. But there should be some way for tourists and OCI citizens without Aadhaar to get SIM easily I think

Your headline seems to be misleading. Without postcode or proof of address you can't open bank account. Even to get a library card we need proof of address in UK. Otherwise it is very informative.

Clydella, that is exactly the point about Revolut and such digital banks that they don’t need address proof. All you need is the post code where you are staying which could be a paying guest accommodation. You don’t need an address proof for that place. Post code and address is needed for them to deliver the Debit Card to you. They give you the sort code and account number instantly with just the BRP card as proof when someone comes to UK. Agree that for everything else including Library and Leisure centres and GP you need address proof.
