Unbelievable. I was a teenager when I bought my very first magazine with my own pocket money, and it happened to be the exact same magazine here from Motortrend @ 3:15. I believe it was issued back in January 2001. Who would've thought I'd see the very same Mustang SVT Cobra R that was on the cover 22 years later! Amazing. That cover was so enthralling since you had America's three baddest cars all going on a shootout. Great times.

I grew up at Martin U.S. 131 dragway as it was called in the early 60's Did some duty in the E.T. booth on the return track. Hand written time slips from the little bullhorn speaker in our shack, lol During eleminations, we would take a wet sponge and wipe off the numbers from the windows if they lost. Wow absolutely incredible. I have the upmost respect for these types of projects. Thinking outside the box, set your goals, and achieve it. I was thinking I can't believe how short the block looks yet massive heads and almost has that Hemi look, and minute later he pointed out it was against the firewall which I didn't notice, but my eyes were darting everywhere. was mentored at community college by a robert lauer. Saw he had non machined factory cores of a special version of these heads specifically for the R. he had serial no. 001 and a 89 coupe on a full cobra R suspension when I knew him. Dude was a wizard on a flow bench too and learned plenty a secret and wrote everything down as much as I could. fantastic content as always!

I like the mix of old and new fomoco stuff you do now and I really liked the videos you did with UTG at the NPD car collection. I think some videos of weird old engines that Ford used and developed like the 260 Indy engine from 62 or the gurney westlake headed small block from the 68-69 gt40. Or even the ford GAA tank engine and see how it compares to the modern ford dohc engine. Would be entertaining

The 2000 Cobra R became a classic since the day of its release. Stunning performance and looks... Reminds us the great and sometimes underrated New Edge design. Even better, no turbos or superchargers. Legendary car. Great video. Still #1 Ford channel.. I have that Motor Trend issue! The Vette was smoked (should i say SSmoked?) and the Viper needed 8 liters to beat the Cobra R.. Great video, i hope to see that quarter mile runs soon!

I have a 99 Mustang ECU, with a 98 Cobra Engine (built), and rev to 8000 no problems. Uses FRPP cams / valves / ported heads, WeaponX coils and PHP stage 2 upper intake.

Crazy to think todsy 9k on the coyote is pretty easy but the amount of work and money and ingenuity it took to get that motor to rev that high and only to make 500hp

The reason the coyote does what it does is directly because of these engines and the path they paved. Respect 🙏. It's just a newer more advanced mod motor with more tech. These had no knock sensors, no vct or any of the other stuff that greatly helps the coyote do what it does. People act like the coyote was the first one to Rev crazy but the mod motors did it first. The na ones Rev to 7k stock like a coyote does pre 2018. I know the coyote is technically a diff platform and the heads and stuff aren't interchangeable but it's essentially a newer mod motor they took what they learned from these and put it into the coyote with modern tech.
