My question is on the tyres: last generation 245/20’s could go down to 18 inch rims for high pothole neighborhoods but could fit 17inch right? Can the new one go -2 inches down as well to 17 inches tyres? Or can it go even further into 16 without compromising the brakes/suspension?
@dbeckMSP2 жыл бұрын
I’d bet the brakes are the same size as the last gen, so 18s are probably still the limit. iirc 20s we’re to clear the special suspension and a slightly different offset was needed for 18/19 which probably technically messed with the engineers handling goals but most people probably couldn’t tell or accepted the loss for more tire to absorb crappy roads as you mentioned.

This is a much higher level of Civic from 10-15 years ago and even in those days an Si was already commanding near 30k price levels. You would expect almost any turbocharged, premium sports car that makes more than 300 hp nowadays to start above 40k. Even the Hyundai R models are up there. You still get a nice performance car for the money in this current Type R IHMO. I highly doubt that you can get a near new, low mileage Corvette or Cayman for 60k right now. Also, try insuring one of those cars right now as a daily driver. This Type R can be daily driven comfortably, has passenger and cargo room, will get decent mpg and will happily sit in traffic with the A/C on full blast. Also, servicing this car won't be as expensive as a Porsche, BMW or the Vette. It's very manageable for the 30-60 yr. crowd with decent income to own comfortably.

I do like the telemetry that you get integrated into the infotainment system though, but that’s a about it. The rear wing honestly is pathetic. I know I may be being harsh but I stand with my view on the car. It’s just not the same. Take the Nissan Skyline (GT-R) for example. We all loved the R32, R33, and R34, but when the R35 came out, it just didn’t scream “Skyline” like the others did and the Type-R seems to be falling into the same footsteps unfortunately. ewwwww. one butt ugly car. so glad I bought my fk8 and didn't wait for this eyesore. fk8 is such a better looking car. the front is so ugly on the 2023. so is the sideview. looks like a dodge. the front face just falls off like a cliff. too blank in front without fog lamps. mirrors are horrible shaped too. could the center of the steering wheel bulge out anymore. looks like a basketball

Yuck glad to have a 2021. Just can't find a single thing I like about the body inside or out. Sure better performance is always welcome but this looks more like a accord type R than a civic.
