It is certainly interesting on a number of levels, but I note that there was nothing about crash-worthiness. This is as much a failure of the legal landscape in the US as it is a failure in design - I do not think these cars will ever be considered road-worthy in Europe. I would be happy to test drive it away from other vehicles, but I would never want to share the road with one.

i have a 2022 gti dsg and oh boy... its been interesting. brake line failure premature rotor wear engine mounts prematurley wore out causing the belt to rub the hose spraying coolant everywhere and the steering wheel problem a bad gps antena and a faulty park neutral switch. i like the car a lot still after all that its put me through, but damn this thing is giving me grey hairs

Omg, as a Tesla owner that LOVES his car, I don’t understand the negativity in this thread. These vehicles are amazing! Faster, stronger, never stop at gas stations (or public chargers if you simply plug in in your garage), it streams entertainment, essentially outperforms every pickup in all categories with the exception of long range towing (which it can do quite easily, but slower if you make numerous Supercharging stops) but yet everyone has to be a hater because they’ve never driven or been in one (let alone seen one). Just grumpy Americans that are “stuck in their lanes” and can’t be thrilled that an AMERICAN car company is making amazing products. 🤔

This truck seems to be a diva high cost money pit. Over time, how will it compare to tried and true vehicles? It looks like a junior high kid designed it. It's a very expensive toy that will prove to be a "Tedsel."

You think 2 lane roads are bad, consider the 14-lane freeways in Greater Los Angeles. Thousands of cars all around you heavy traffic, at freeway speeds. How do you drive a car with poor visibility in this environment? Even if you avoid accidents, it's going to add a lot of stress to your life.

I have a 2022 GTI SE with 6 speed manual. It's been great. The only issue I've had was the steering wheel triggering erroneous safety warnings on the dash. It was changed under warranty, and the car has been rock-solid ever since. I've owned three GTIs previously - a 2017, a 2015, and a 2010. I love the GTI format, and I'm glad to be driving the latest version of this fantastic driver's car.

i really dont get it, i love manual transmission but def. not for my daily, its super annoying in traffic. When i have to go nuts, there are shift pads on the wheel, i really dont get it why manual is not fully dead yet. Even race cars (rally) have up/down shift.
