How about how to “patch” you up after a laceration or compound fracture. How to actually suture or staple the wound properly? I’m picking THAT person, along with your medicine man, to be on MY team! 😂 I’d like to add, someone, or a couple of people, who know how to rig up rudimentary traps, snares and some of the nasty little things that we (Americans) learned from “Charlie” in the VN war.

Learning how to shoot is good. Being accurate with bullets is great. But what about knife combat? Quiet combat scenarios? The bow, sling shot, thrown axe, spear are crazy effective and very deadly when there is no ammo, black powder. You can't always give away your location to everyone within a mile radius with a big boom.

Tom, I've always enjoyed you on my channel (you can probably tell that by the way I mention you from time-to-time in my videos. Godspeed, brother. I hope you heal up. I must admit, I don't know much about congestive heart failure. But, when I researched it, I found that berries from the Common Hawthorn are typically used in Natural Medicine to treat CHF. I'm sure that they wouldn't be as effective as prescribed medicine for CHF, but it may buy you extra time should you not be able to get your prescription. I've got ONE baby Common Hawthorn that I planted on my property, but I plan to add more in the future because it also really helps with high blood pressure. Take care and God Bless.

EP, MY Extended reply got zapped. CHF is where one's heart does not pump enough blood through kidneys to filter fluid out of the body, fluids then back up into lungs and one 'drowns' in one's own juices. Leads to eventual death. I do take Hawthorne in addition to a rack of supplements and meds. EP have a Great Day. Thanks bud. Best

Just purchased your book brother, looking forward to it! Do you or anyone else have an regional herbalist or plant identifying books to recommend? I ourchased one from another prepper video recommendation off of Amazon and even though it claimed to be whole of North American it in actuality was only the Mid-West lol 🤦.

From reviews many of these books have just basic fluff verbage and very light on actual tangible information lol. Kinda of a sea of books without bein too deep on actual knowledge, and after a few purchases they really aren't cheap for the value exchange.

@EthicalPreparedness 7 ай бұрын
I don't know any herbalists, but you can find a BUNCH online (and also Facebook) and then look for one that's in your area. They're constantly advertising how they're having upcoming classes in their region, so hopefully you can find one in your area. I do live in the midwest, BUT a lot of the plants I use in the book were brought over by Europeans back in the pioneer days, so they're spread across the USA (except in desert areas, etc.). I hope you get a LOT out of the book! :)

This is what helped me: when I started recognizing wees and wildflowers by sight (aka when I started noticing that I was seeing some weeds over-and-over again, then I identified them. I'm looking for a quality tactical 1st aid course or series of courses to learn. I'm on the west Coast and if it wasn't so costly to travel I'd absolutely LOVE to take all 3 responder classes from Refuge Medical. They're the absolute tops in tactical trauma medicine that all 4 branches send their higher tier groups to train with and even the Seals use their Stomp bags and test their all American medkits in the field with intent to break em and report how they failed, now after all of that they're basically perfect.

She's already glowing herbs and has a membership to an apothecary group where she gets materials where she gets educational materials and actual seeds in starter kits for all sorts of stuff and how to make things from them, it's very fascinating kind of inline without your own natural local fauna based medicines

@@EthicalPreparedness and that's the problem with all of these types of training available to us at the civilian or even 1st responder level, best we can do is stabilization. But you have unique still sets from your Leo days to be a teacher in several realms ... As we see from this channel lol. I actually disagree with the thought that there will be a fed or two in every prepper group. And the reason why I disagree with that is because I've worked in government for over 20 years, so I know how it works. The only time I see the government embed themselves in a group is when that group is talking about overthrowing the government, or making bombs, etc. Or also being VERY outspoken and having a HUGE audience can put a group in the crosshairs too (like the Proud Boys, etc.). But for everyday groups where they're just stockpiling supplies and learning prepper skills: the govt doesn't have enough UC guys to infiltrate every prepper group out there. :)

@@EthicalPreparedness have you listened to any of the details of the Gretchen whitmir case? It was nearly 75% government plants. Guess I shouldn’t just bundle them up as feds. Guess there were multiple agencies involved and multiple prepper groups that were infiltrated. I plan for the worst and hope for the best. Unfortunately I no longer think you can get away with “just don’t do anything wrong and you’ve got nothing to worry about”. Cheers and thanks for sharing all this information with us

Natural medicines are going to be very much state/region specific. In my state there's coast lines on one side and mountains/deserts on the other, which makes anyone able to do such crafting have to be highly specialized for that region. I've bought books that were supposed to be guides to the native plants in my area and still couldn't identify half of the stuff in my backyard. I'm just going to what the old settlers did, just apply as much whisky is needed until the problem is fixed or isn't noticeable.
@EthicalPreparedness
@EthicalPreparedness 7 ай бұрын
I was kind of in your situation (a little bit): What I started doing was photographing weeds and wildflowers that I saw over and over again. Then I used a plant ID app, and also looked them up on photos, and also joined a "Native Plants" Facebook group for my state. Between the three (plant ID app, further confirming them with photos, & native plants FB group) I got them confirmed what they were. And then once I got them confirmed, then I looked up to see what medicinal uses they have. I hope that helps. :)

A northern midwest state. However, a lot of the plants that I use were brought over by European settlers during the pioneer days... so numerous of the plants that I use are spread all across the USA, except in desert zones, etc. Broad leaf plantain, Yellow Yarrow, Mullein, clover, Wild Lettuce, black walnut, oak tree, and Yellowroot are plants that I use and are in my book. I hope that info helps :)
@theoldguy9329

Thanks central/southern Ontario. Black walnut is uncommon at best. We have white yarrow. Our wild lettuce is prickly lettuce which is different from what is usually described as the pain killer. Yellowroot/goldenseal is a protected species here. So not so different vegetation. One big difference is the liquor laws and taxes, so a cheap bottle of vodka would be $30USD and there is no Everclear here. Teas more than tinctures. When I get home I will download your book.

You will, literally, have the power of life and death. Imagine that level of bartering power. My point: you may never have the capability to make insulin from scratch. Vodka is something that is definitely something I want to learn how to make. But that's why I almost always give two(2) options for each natural medicine: one way where it's made as an infusion with water in case a person can't get their hands on vodka, and the 2nd way where it's made as a tincture with the vodka. The tinctures are a bit more 'concentrated' because they have more time in the vodka to 'extract' the medicines; plus there's a lot of compounds that are only alcohol soluble. But I figure in SHTF.... people will pick up moonshining pretty darn quick. :)

@@jaydo1879 Alcohol is a good barter commodity. During the Great Depression it provided a good income for the hill people in many states. Not only can it be drunk to get a buzz, it can also be used as a medicine, and as a fuel in your vehicles, and lamps to light your home, and as a heat source to heat a room.
