In today’s video I explain how much I paid for my car and I walk you through the reasons why I never paid full dealership price. Do you agree with me that I ended up with a good deal in the end irrespective of the issues?
@Kalimashaktide-i4zАй бұрын
Had one, kept my 997 Porsche just in case. Rejected the Emira after a month. Huge issues, unfixable and terrible dealerships experience. Back in the Porsche now, and bought an A110. Night and day better car.

I am finding Lotus Customer support awful to deal with but now they have transferred a lot of the sales back to dealerships that resolved many of the issues meaning you don’t have to deal with lotus direct

I had a reservation deposit on an Emira V6 manual, but backed out after reading about all the problems that owners in the UK were having. Plus, the closest dealership to me is 80 miles away. Too risky so I bought a new GR Supra 45th anniversary edition for $30,000 less.
@RichReviews_Ай бұрын
How's the Supra working out?
@davepaturno4290Ай бұрын
@RichReviews_ It is very impressive as far as handling and acceleration. The windows are short, but I also have a Miata with with similarly sized windows and manual transmission, so my Supra has the excellent ZF8 auto transmission which allows for the adaptive radar cruise. The HUD is very handy when using the navigation, as the HUD display shows upcoming turns, and distance to them. The seats are very good with adjustable lumbar and side bolsters. I was also considering a 2017 -2019 Acura NSX, but the cost is a bit too high. The Supra is unique enough to attract quite a bit of attention. It's certainly not quite as exotic-looking as the Emira, but overall, I am very happy with the purchase.

Yellow is best colour for these, I had a brand new one ordered but after my test drive I cancelled the order as the car felt underwhelming and I was in track mode and using the full 6750rpm but my Porsche 987.2 Boxster Spyder felt as quick if not quicker and far better handling and steering. I’ve since dropped into an Alpine A110S which quicker than Emira and been a true 1100kg with a bespoke chassis I just find the Alpine a faster better handling car and loves b roads and track days. I even prefer the Alpine over my Exige 410 it’s that good and just like Emira the Alpines depreciate hard mine was 77k new and I paid 52k for it 18 months old with 2000 miles, it’s dripping in carbon fibre even has a carbon roof and it weighed in at 1092lg full tank of fuel and clocked 3.9s to 60 in it and it does 45mpg on a run. A car I never consider has turned to be a superstar of a performer. Enjoy the Lotus Rich but Alpine is a true rival and is the Lotus of old with truly lightweight cars. 👍
@RichReviews_Ай бұрын
Thanks Andrew...I also dropped my order because it seemed Lotus just did not want to sell me one...they could not be bothered to communicate properly. We have since bought this car for a good few reasons and loving the actual car but not the Lotus support.

In general the a110 has pretty slow depreciation... maybe v high spec ones get it more. The pre 2022 ones have dropped quite a bit because infotainment is so important and they don't have carplay/AA. £77k for an a110s is a lot so you must have all the options ticked!

Stunning cars I just think they fumbled on the powertrain. It doesn’t perform the way a lightweight 400 hp car should. A manual Cayman GTS 4.0, with 394 HP and the same weight, accelerates from 0-200 kmh in the same time the v6 Emira accelerates from 100-200 kmh. Totally different leagues of performance despite nearly identical specs. I wish they had nailed the powertrain, because we’d have an absolutely iconic ICE send off from one of the most important marques in Motorsport history. Stunning cars outside of the powertrain.
@RichReviews_Ай бұрын
Thanks...but it is important to remember that many cars like the Emira are so much more than their spec sheets.
@ZuffenhouseАй бұрын
@@RichReviews_ totally agree. I just think it’s something for potential buyers to be aware of, as so many reviewers/media outlets pit the two cars against each other as direct comps. While they are both mid-engined 2-seaters for $100k, they are in pretty different leagues when it comes to capability. They just serve different purposes, and potential buyers should think about which one is a better fit for their applications. I was very interested in the Emira and carefully considering both cars, assuming they probably performed similarly. When I learned about the sheer performance difference between the two I opted to go with a CGTS 4.0. Very happy with the car, although still love much about the Emira!

Had one, aircon/carplay/DAB & nav packed up 3 times in 3 months. Rejected the car, got my money back. Such a shame as it’s a great looking mini super car. Mind you, I really hated the supercharged engine, hideous whine and awful clutch. I really hope Lotus get their act together but unfortunately I won’t be going back for a very long time. Oh, and by the way, I had a 4 litre 718 Boxster at the same time which is on a different planet to the Lotus.
@RichReviews_Ай бұрын
Wow, sorry to hear of your issues, sounds like you were particularly unlucky. In addition to really liking the car (so far...but not necessarily Lotus support) this is our last chance to own a 'proper' Lotus with this being the last non-electified model.

Good luck and I sincerely hope you have many enjoyable miles in it. It’s such a head turner and handles superbly. I’m a big fan of it still but personally couldn’t tolerate the unreliability affecting mine. Unfortunately my tolerance levels are much lower nowadays having owned 5 McLaren’s!! I was hoping for much greater things from Lotus.

I understand that the Porsche 718 in 4.0l trim is a fantastic car, I just cannot get over the fact that it looks like every other of the many many Boxsters/Caymans on the road. seems odd to do a video mentioning 3 MAJOR faults from manufacturing and then say what high build quality Lotus has and nothing out there at that price, with such high build quality, while highlighting these problems are known problems, which they ARE as I have exactly the same 3 problems. (cayman, A110...all far far far better build quality) At least you knew about your issues. I bought my car from Auto100, the worst buying experience ever and they never mentioned any of them apart from the windscreen which they only noticed a day before I travelled 10000 miles to get the car, then a week delay etc etc, such arrogant sales people! Anyway, then add to this your park assist issues and then water from the boot lid into the boot and engine when wet... Let's be honest the build quality of these cars is NOT good, its not german or japanese build quality, not even south korean, its pretty awful and none of these issues should be present. Having said that, the car does indeed feel good to drive, although the gear box is not great by any stretch great. If Mazda can make a great gear box, why can't lotus... Anyway, enjoy it
