As a radio/TV tech for 30 years, I went through 3 pair of Sony's MDR-7506. They were just like a builder's hammer in the toolbox, and I grew to 'mix-in' to their sound. These MV1s look interesting. Thanks for the review!

I LOVE headphones like that!

I use 7506 for lossless music listening, along with 990pro and Sundara. Going to order MV1 and Sennheiser 490 pro as well. Open backs are great for gaming too. By the way I avoid BT for poor quality not saying MP3. Great review anyway.

The Sony MDR-1AM2s are my daily driver headphones for working from home. They are incredibly comfortable and the sound quality is unmatched for the price. I have no dount these MV1s are just as good if not better.

I have Sennheiser 650s and I think it's important to add that you often need a powerful headphone amp to correctly power a set of reference headphones. Not sure if that's the case here but it's essential to bear it in mind.

I faithfully used the MDR-7506 for just about everything at The New School's audio engineering department some, uh, 28 years ago. I even used them for personal use enjoying music. These new cans look very, very interesting for pro studio work and indoor listening.
@artureff30465 ай бұрын
7506 are great for listening, I use also 990pro and Sundara, but somehow I really enjoy Sony pro. Going to order the SV1 and probably Sennheiser 490 pro. Generally don't use BT for poor quality, lossless only and wired....😅
@duncanmacphee20010 ай бұрын
If you value sound isolation over sound quality, the noise-cancelling headphones are fine. Personally, I can't stand the air-vacuum effect and noticeable drop in sound clarity, and having some background noise is more than a small sacrifice to pay to have amazing sound.
@RafiGish7 ай бұрын
The air-vacuum effect is mostly an issue with lesser quality noise-cancelling headphones for my ears.

As a documentary filmmaker, robust “wired” headphones in the field are a must (as you said, they get chucked around a bit!). In the edit bay, they need to be comfortable for long periods of time, and accurate (true to the actual sound). I have yet to find a single pair of “cans” that can do both. Is this just a pipe dream? What are your thoughts? 😁

Great overview! Glad to see these get some love, Sony very silently launched the MDR MV1. I love the Sony “house sound”. I’ve been onboard since their MDR1A, through their XBA line, up to ultimately the IER Z1, and almost all their XMs: 1, 2, 4 (of which I have 2) and the XM3 and XM4 in ears. And these MDR MV1 are the best Sony headphones I’ve ever owned. They combine thicc yet controlled bass, their awesome Sony tuning, and a spaciousness and soundstage thanks to its open design I’ve néver heard on Sony. At 450 euro, they get very close to my 1500 eur Focal Clear MG. Oh and they’re super comfortable and light - and they pair really well with all sources, including DAPs! Get them!! Ps: Plus they’re realllyyyy good for gaming!!

I'm interested in these headphones because it seems to be the only wired headphone Sony has released lately, and all of the existing wired consumer headphones from Sony are out of stock. I usually listened to high resolution audio files on my Sony Walkman zx507 when I'm on the go, and i like to use a wired headphone with them that i can also use with my computer at home. I don't really need noise cancelling, and all of the fancy stuff.

They are excellent all around performer and i do not disturb other family components. I wonder if sony implemented the engineering when they acquired audeze the audiophile company. I daily drive the 1997 sennheiser hd 600 the original marble version even when I commute by bus, walking around and running errands while my sennheiser headphones are connected to my phone from the headphone jack. I even use my sennheiser hd 600 for gaming while having a narrow sound stage. I play call of duty modern warfare and halo infinite multiplayer on pc and I enjoy the neutrality of the headphones and the warmth vocals and midrange.

It's so stupid to have a totally different sounding headphone for production than anyone is using in real life scenario. How are you going to judge bass and treble if bass is undercooked and treble is too much? Anyway - these look very interesting. I don't want flat. I want something for gaming and music.
@MarkEllisReviewsАй бұрын
Stupid? Every professional mix engineer and mastering engineer will use flat speakers and headphones to ensure the audio they're working on sounds as consistent as possible across a wide range of output devices, mate.
