As someone who uses both Android and iOS it always makes me laugh when people make a big drama about switching between both these systems, just use whatever one you like. As for me I will get an iPhone 16 but when I get bored of that I will probably get whatever Android phone that catches my attention.

I've used both Android (OnePlus 12) and iOS (iPhone 13 Pro) at the same time, and agree that it's certainly workable. Of course, you have to move to Google ID and apps, and then there's the expense of 2 sets of hardware, mobile plans and cloud services...but you get the best of both worlds.

I’ve upgraded from a 15 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max. When I put them alongside each other, I can see the difference. When I hold them in my hand, they feel exactly the same. And I’ve got teeny-tiny Trump-like hands. So, if you’re good with the 15 Pro Max, you’ll be absolutely fine with the 16 Pro Max.

@@KrispyKrink I went from an 8 to a 13 Pro Max since Apple never made a battery case for the 8. It seemed like an entirely different product category. But I wanted a battery that would last. I’m going to go with the 16 Pro and surrender 0.4” of screen, 1 hr of battery life (vs the 13 Max when it was new), many many grams, a lot of bulk, and black side bars on photos and videos (even at 16:9).

Great first look at the iPhone 16 pro max. I’ve got the iPhone 14 Pro Max at the minute. I wasn’t interested when the 15 pro max came out. However I like big screens and the main reason I want to get the 16 pro max is because it has a larger screen.

Had my 16 pro delivered on Friday. Upgrading from a 13 pro. I don’t know what I was expecting but I was really disappointed. The new camera control is just useless and I could tell straight away it would never be used. Felt no quicker than my 13 for simple day to day tasks. The only good thing I can say about it is the 5x zoom. It’s currently sat in its box waiting for ups to pick it up tomorrow. Saved myself £1200.

My wife and my iPhone 16 Pro Max’s came in today as well. I do use the public betas, so I’m on 18.1 with some of the Apple Intelligence features. I haven really had the chance to do much yet, but I really, as a photographer, like the new camera control “button”. Yes, it does take a bit of getting used to as anything complex does. But it works pretty well. It’s sort of a button, but not in the way people think of a button. It’s a capacitive button, not a mechanical one. But it does move slightly with a Taptic effect. My phone is black this year, and the woven cable is white. We have the 15 Pro Max and yes, it’s worth it to upgrade, if you have the use case. The 48MP ultra wide alone is worth it for me. But there are a number of other improvements. The new camera button is a game changer if you take a lot of photos and videos. The 120fps on 4k is a great feature for slo-mo. The increased capability for A.I. is significant. Graphics improvement is significant. If you’re a gamer, the ray tracing is twice as fast. There are other improvements such as larger batteries. How much is worth it? It depends on what you think is important. As far as the mics go. You have to set them up properly for the use. It’s something you really have to learn about to use it properly. I can tell that you don’t have the mics set up for your use. So, the 18.1 update for customers should drop in October and 18.2 should drop in late November, early December. Between the two, a fair amount of Apple’s A.I. will be there. By the way, Google’s Gemini still uses Google Assistant for almost everything, it’s not really Gemini that’s doing the work right now. You can tell as when you call it up, a window opens that says Google Assistant. So don’t be fooled.

Don't be fooled, they announced 🍏 Intelligence earlier in the year then touted the 16s as the AI phones then they ship with nothing. I don't even understand how comparisons to other brands are relevant when even after the big headlines and shipping new products they are still years behind. Gemini for some actions depending on device and level off update may operate Assist for some on device abilities, Assistant is staying on other hardware device too so not sure how this matters. I can yell you which device gets the verbal ask when answers are needed and as it's been for ages and still is its not the updated iOS device thats ironically much newer and more expensive. I have a "hi-fi" sound system, and yes, I think the mic quality of iP16 Pro is surprisingly good. I am in the process of upgrading from a 2nd Gen SE (2020), and I feel the audio quality is the most tempting feature to go for the latest & greatest. Patrick 2masso made me aware of this with a recent video. In the end, I settled for the value proposition of the iP15 Pro. There just wasn't quite enough change to convince me, but of course it boils down to how important each feature is to your own needs.

I had quite a similar unboxing and first impression experience yesterday. Same phone but black this year. I enjoyed your video. You are one of the few “normal one” on KZbin who shares his impressions and thoughts as they are. Thank you for not explaining every single button of the phone during the first five minutes. I struggled with the camera control same as you and I even checked the internet for its function. It’s just like the AirPod pro 2 volume control when I used it for the first time. On the mic, by default it they do sound pretty good, at least in a quiet environment. To really hear the difference though, you need to use the In-Frame or Studio audio mix though. Im honestly really impressed!

My whole set up is Apple based as is that of my immediate family, however, a couple of years back in a rekindling of long past teenage rebelliousness I jumped over to a lovely Samsung phone. It was indeed a nice bit of kit and cheaper but the lack of interconnectivity meant it was a stand alone object and as integrated as going to a phone box so 4 months later I took the hit and returned to the mother ship. Lets face it, everything works, they all communicate, Apple quality is superb and they are pleasing to own. Today I am waiting on DHL with my new iPhone 16 Pro Max to replace my iPhone 15 Pro Max, why? because I like the upgrade specs, the new camera "Button" and Apple offered me a great trade in value. If its not for you then fine, enjoy your choices, but for my lifestyle and family circle its is unmatchable and I look forward to their AI update with considerable excitement.

Nothing I’ve seen or heard leads me to believe that the “studio” mics are that great. Maybe they’ll tweak in future software updates. That being said I’m an audio snob using a Neumann TLM-103 for my podcasts. Just got my iPhone 16 PM yesterday & like it. Nice review!

I decided to go for the iPhone 16 Pro. Coming from an iPhone 12, this is a complete upgrade from what I currently have. I like that it's got a faster CPU and a faster refresh rate. I also like the 48 MP cameras compared to the 12 MP cameras that the iPhone 12 has. I also like the idea that you can record video in 4K. With all that said, I'm having a hard time deciding if I wanted the iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max. I have the iPhone 16 Pro on presale and I'm picking it up tomorrow. I'm thinking I may exchange it if I like the Pro Max better.

It would help if you enabled the studio audio during your iPhone 16 Pro Max video. The echo that I was hearing was definitely standard audio. You definitely did not enable studio quality audio. I’ve watched videos and it’s a massive difference completely gets rid of echo.

I went from 14 Pro to 16 Pro Max mainly because I wanted a bigger screen. My only complaint is that the stickers are broken in iOS 18. Everything else has been great. I actually really like the camera button. Pressing it pops open the camera app no matter what and the zoom is quite nice. The learning curve isn’t bad at all like I’ve heard from reviewers. If you already have a 14 Pro Max, however…I would say skip the 16 Pro Max and just get a battery replacement. And don’t upgrade to iOS 18 until they fix the bugs.

The mic is almost too good as the sound reflects the audio configuration of your studio. So perhaps near/far aren't as a well tuned as they could be? Image quality excellent of course. Not as good as a separate pro camera and pro mic obviously, but if you're starting out...

I had the 15 Pro Max for the 5x zoom, going from a 12 Pro. However, now that both Pro models have the 5x I've just ordered the 16 Pro as I've struggled with the size (small hands). I hate spending the money, usually go 3-4 years before changing, but that half a centimeter difference in width does make a difference in comfort! iPhone 20 Pro will be my next though 😂

There’s different audio modes when editing videos. A new audio mix option allows you to choose between them. If you don’t change this, it stays in standard mode rather than in frame, studio, or cinematic.

iPhone 16 is very thin. I prefer a phone that is heavier like the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. Some people say they are disappointed with the iPhones 16 and to wait for the 17. For now, I am staying with my iPhone 14 that has all the features I need and works great.

Your studio mic had a richer sound (more bass) and was preferable. Having said that, if you filmed the entire video off the phone I wouldn’t have thought twice about the audio quality. The video quality was a bit ‘interesting’ - white washed is my impression, that could be a lighting setup.

I've heard that from multiple reviewers now, "bit wider and a bit taller". I have the iPhone 16 Pro Max and it's just not true. Putting it against my older iPhone 14 Pro Max (and even the iPhone 11s Max) they are all the same width. I'm sure they may be a few millimeters different, but you cannot tell at all. However IT IS noticeably taller which is great.

The mic quality was not that impressive though I think (not sure) on the iPhone you can later change settings for different mic outputs. Also, what screen protecter do you use and does it sit flush edge to edge for a person not using a case. Oh, take a look at the Arc Pulse cases if you want minimal.

Does iphone NOW have a pause button when recording? I will get an iphone when they do. Looks like the iphone developers just cant figure that out.
