To be fair, we don't know that anyone cheated. We don't know Nana and Grandpa were ever together at the same time as Grandma and Grandpa were; he could have left Grandma *so that* he could be with Nana without cheating. Not saying that's *much* better, but it's at least *somewhat* better than cheating.

yeah I know a bunch of people who refer to their best friends as aunt or uncle in front of their kids (As in "Look, your auntie is here!"). I think its cute, as you said, its a sign that you are chosen family :)

My mother is deaf, but “nobody” knows how it happened. She was neglected to the point where no one noticed apparently. There are several stories ranging from she was born that way to she had a 108 degree fever at age 12.

That happens more often than you think. It's usually because of a teen pregnancy and the stigma that used to be attached to it. The same principle as sending the pregnant teen to live with a distant uncle/aunt/cousin or grandparent until the birth.
