His colouring is buckskin. For him to be grulla one of his parents would have to carry dun so the only way he could potentially be grulla would be if his sire was a red dun. The mother (black) could be a Smokey black (black plus cream) as a single cream gene on a black horse is hidden and only genetic testing would reveal that gene. If he had the dun gene (grulla) he would be showing a Dorsel stripe on his back also, which he does not look to have. Beautiful foal reguardless of colour!

OMG that was the best surprise ever!!! The foal is adorable ♥️....but I'm gonna be honest....I would steal his mom in a heartbeat! She is absolutely gorgeous! I'm glad she gets to stay until his weaned! I was wondering how that was going to work! 😊 and we got some color genetic learning in there too! (Genetics are a complicated topic!) But I'm glad she called because what she was saying about the sire and dam's genetic color markers didn't mesh with his color! Learned something new today 😁 as always thanks for letting us see such a wonderful family moment! Truly honored to see her reaction! ♥️ BTW.....I'm yellow member icon now! 😁😁😁😁😁

Thanks! Congrats on the Yellow icon, that's so fun! Eventually I'll figure out how to give you guys some cool emojis, but I'm not that techy yet 😂 Isn't the mare lovely? She's actually in her mid teens and was never trained under saddle. They bought her for her outstanding bloodlines and she gets to spend her life eating grass and having a few babies. She certainly has amazing babies.

Graeme from stable horse training had some cool ones created with his logo in them. Might be worth picking his brain about how he did it. If I remember correctly though, I think he said someone created them for him. Just a thought! Hope you had a great day! Oh BTW, I'm finally going to get my hair cut tomorrow! That spot on the left side of his neck almost looks like a heart, and then the spot on the right side of his neck looks like the UP! What a lovely and fitting surprise for your mom. His hair is definitely darker than his baby coat. I have never seen a grullo in life, just pictures, but it is in Quarter horses and Mustangs.

I got surprised for my birthday on August 8th of last year! He’s an amazing 5 year old who’s getting broke for me to ride! I think he will darken up. Not quite as dark as mom but more like a light bay. But id love it if he stays buckskin. I dont see the dark stripe down his back so i am really un sure but very excited to see what he does decide to be!! SO VERY AWESOME!!

Well done for keeping everyone quiet about the surprise when it didn't quite the time planned , so good she just thought it a normal day of new horse arriving for training school. She certainly wasn't expecting another baby horse , it was priceless her reaction. Does this makes you want to breed Nika again or ohnah . He could be a unique buckskin or possible a dunn, hope he keeps the dark tips on his ears and his muzzle and eyes and keeps his two tone tail . He's such a friendly bold spirited little man and his mum was so good with strangers too. Oh my goodness it's going to be hard not to get attached to her just wonder if the owner will let you buy her if she fits in so well with the others horses she would make a great schooling horse. Omg he is nearly the same colour as Manser, I could see Manser and him rough housing playing in the paddock. Mare not phased about being left by the owner not bothered about them at all .

Thank you, I'm so glad it all worked out so smoothly. The Mare was never trained to ride and she is in her early to mid teens. She was purchases strictly because of her bloodlines. She really is a nice mare and passes a lot of good qualities to her babies.
