Notion is great. However, until they sort out the fact that we can only take notes while online, it will never be able to substitute my journaling and quick note taking apps 😐

Haha, yes, sadly the offline conversations will continue I suspect indefinitely: it would essentially be a totally different app if it embraced it - since reconciling versions and updates would be so hard to do as a collaborative tool - I can’t see it happening - but I could see a world where perhaps certain docs could be integrated to be viewable

Why would this be so hard when G Docs has done this for quite a while now? Multiplayer with offline might be difficult but it’s certainly not impossible!

@@BetterCreating I see what you mean but not everyone uses it as a collaborative tool. It can't be that complicated to add this feature for personal documents, can it? You know, sometimes you're in the middle of nowhere, or in a tunnel on the tube and you still want to be able to jot down an idea...

This is the main reason why I’m not committing myself fully to Notion. Evernote has this, both the possibility to work offline and to collaborate on synced notes when online again. But then again, Evernote doesn’t have the open databases … and other stuff! Still, who knows what they’ll come up with next - the app is evolving fast now that Bending Spoons has got it off the reef it was stranded on!

Has the Notion app for iPad improved in the last year? I stopped using it as I came across a few bugs with not all columns showing in a large database. After watching your video I am tempted to come back to the fold….

It’s better… but I think still has a long way to go: I’m hopeful thou it will get some attention :)

Email to Notion or email within Notion is THE feature I've been waiting for. Today, I have to send my emails to a Gmail address and then use Scripts to use the Notion API to push the content to Notion. Unfortunately, I lose a lot of formatting/images in the process.

I highly resonate with the Akshay speaking of Notion being a second brain. I have plugged in my Zettelkasten System into Notion, and it has been incredibly useful in that aspect, even though Obsidian is better for automatic linking. With a little tweaking and a good workflow, Notion works better for me in that regard, especially in conjunction with using the Notion AI. That was a gamechanger for me.

Thanks for sharing! That’s really interesting to read - yeah - I’ve found the same - and I suspect the coming development work will further improve the options to build but also simplify your personal UI with what you build - exciting times :)

I don't know where you replied to that question. At least, I didn't see it in the Discord community, where I would expect to see it. In any case, no problem from my side to wait a bit longer, provided that we are aware of such delay in advance. I prefer a well-finished and perfected product, even though I had to wait for a little longer.

Notion is ok. As much as i tried i can use it on the run. from construction sites to the closing table, to flights on a redeye. it’s to cumbersome and takes way to many steps to get in and out of the app. Everyone loves these complicated setups but none are for people on the go using a small device and not sitting behind a desk all day.

Thanks for sharing - I do think there are great ways to build for mobile thou. I use a widget to just straight to a key dashboard, and quick buttons to add and process stuff on mobile - it works well.

@@BetterCreating This was a great video, well put together too, I like listening to founders and start-ups. Maybe you can do more mobile set and videos and through in some day in the life videos using Notion, and maybe i’ll dive in again and give Notion a second chance!

I love Notion and it is #1 tool I use for just about everything. But my 1 problem with it is that I can’t use it offline. If I’m on a flight, or have decided to turn off cell service so I can focus, I lose access to some of my notes. This gets frustrating every time.

Yes, it’s the key limitation, yet, if you added it, it would essentially have to be a different app. I can’t see offline being a thing due to version consolidation - given it’s primarily aimed as a collab platform. :-/
