If John said the new age will "shortly" come to pass, that could mean the book was written under Nero in 66-68 AD and was describing the apocalypse of 70 AD when the temple was destroyed. "Coming on the clouds" means divine judgement. Apostate Jerusalem was judged in 70 AD at the end of the Old Covenant age and the birth of the New Covenant age of the Ecclesia.

The symbolism of the seven seals are seven signatures as per the Jewish wedding custom. The seven churches of Revelation gives us clues as to who they are. Ephesus > Adam Rev 2:5 " Remember therefore from whence you art fallin"... Smyrna < Noah Rev 2:8 " These things said the first and the last"... Pergamos > Abraham Rev 2:17 ..."and in the stone a new name written,"... Thyatira > Jacob / Israel Rev 2:28 "And I will give him the morning star". Sardis > Moses Rev 3:3 "Remember therefore how you have received and heard,"... Philadelphia > David Rev 3:7 ..."He that have the key of David"... Laodicea > Jesus Christ the Bridegroom --All pointing to dispensations of time in order of their time on earth. "He that have an ear, let him hear what the Spirit [singular] saith unto the churches" [plural]. (Repeated seven times, one for each church) “I Jesus have sent mine angel [singular] to testify unto you these things in the church[es]. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.” {Revelation 22:16} --One body of Christ having seven dispensations (prophetic continuance) of time during the dispensation of Grace.

Although you didn't speak about this I would like to add that there was a mistranslation in the letters to the 7 churches. The original scripture said to the messenger of the church of... not angel. Denoting to the leader of pastor of the church which makes more sense in writing letters to.

Internal evidence points to Nero, not Domitian. Scholarship leans heavily toward the late date because of 1 Irenaeus quote, which may be misunderstood. Irenaeus also said Jesus was 50 years old at the crucifixion, so he did not have the best grasp on everything. Revelation also indicates the temple was still standing at the time of the writing. But it is entirely possible that Domitian could have been the one to sentence John to Patmos because his military career had already started even by the time of the early date of Revelation. But, the takeaway is, as you've said, that the book is to provide hope and comfort to the loyal and the persecuted.

Christ found no fault with Smryna and Philadelphia in what they taught. Understanding what they taught encompasses the entire Bible or text of the manuscripts. Jesus taught who the synagogue of Satan is and how it relates to the garden and even the dispensation of time before the one we are now in. I won't debate what is not understood by some. I will direct you to Sheppards Chapel KZbin where you can either listen to the entire book of Revelation taught chapter by chapter and verse by verse or you can study subject videos that clearly explain Revelation taught from God's word. I have many red flags on what this guy is teaching. He corrupts God's word. If you want clear understanding from a scholar, I pray you begin your journey to perhaps learn more than you ever have been taught.

Incorrect, prophecy was, is and will be prophecy. You're hearing someone say "has God said?" Ever the serpent questions the straight forward meaning of God's word. It is interesting that there are many claiming to releal the mysteries of Daniel & Revelation, but don't agree on the meaning. It is funny that John says it is the Revelation of Jesus, not John. Does a secretary taking a message claim the message or the authority giving it. Thanks for revealing it is Christ's. Remember, Daniel reveals that many of the prophecies are locked (by God?) until the end time (he reiterated this 4 times, so it must be important). If someone offers inspired translation, if it isn't the end times, the inspiration is Satan as no entity can unlock what God has locked except God. Fortunately, Jesus reveals to John that nothing in Revelation is locked. Not trying to bash anyone, simply providing context. If someone is saying they know Daniel, beware. Many said Daniel was fulfilled 150BC during Maccabees. Then Jesus said it hadn't happened yet. Satan is smarter than ALL humans and has thousands of years to make it look like prophecy had happened for his purpose so followers of God might be mislead.
