Hi, Revelator Alf! I wrote to you before, thanking you for the video for the Smart Siren installation on my 2020 Heritage Softail. It worked out great! So I decided to replace the horn that came on the bike, and that also went flawlessly! But, I wasn’t happy with the horn that I originally ordered to replace the existing one, so I ordered another one. So, when I removed the 1st replacement horn, the mounting bolt came out of the horn itself! My Cousin came over, and I was explaining about not liking the sound, and I turned the toggle switch of the bike on, and pushed the horn button so he would hear the tone, and nothing happened! I reached down to grab the horn, and it felt warm. I’m not sure if when the mounting bolt came out of the horn, whether it caused the inside terminals of the horn to touch, causing a short, when I pressed the horn button. So, I turned the toggle switch off, and started looking for a blown fuse. Of course, there isn’t one for the horn, so I just assumed that it might have a thermal type circuit breaker, and would reset itself. So, I replaced the horn, and when I turned the toggle switch on, I didn’t have a headlight, or the auxiliary running lights! But, the turn signals work fine! I’m wondering if I might have ruined the BCM, by just pushing the horn button! Is that possible?

EddieHugs1 hi and thanks. Have you put the original horn back on and have you got the wiring connectors the correct way around? It is possible that you’ve shorted something but I’d be surprised if you have. Have you got error codes with this too?

RevelatorAlf I didn’t put the original horn back on, I just installed a different horn, and nothing happens! I tried to start the bike, and it won’t start either, that’s why I’m assuming that it is the BCM, because you said that it also communicates with the ECM.

@@EddieHugs1 Yes perhaps it is something but wonder what you may have done to interfere with the BCM. Have you done any other work to the bike or changed any electrical. Have you checked the battery for loose connections and fully charged etc. I would revert back to original horn and try to retrace what has gone wrong but unless there's more info you may have to just get it to a mechanic or dealership to rectify. Hope you get it sorted. Cheers

Once again, helping me better understand my bike. Thank you!! I got BCM codes "B21: 41, 46, 51, and 56" all of them had "h" at the end, which I understand means "historical" I then also got a Part Number, PN 41000349f, to replace my BCM. Long story short, I think the codes are from me changing the turn signal lights out. It's also interesting to hear the BCM controls a record of if the bike has been dropped or leaned too far. Interesting because after buying this Sport Glide used I noticed the license plate light wasn't working and there were some other signs that perhaps the bike was dropped by the previous original owner. I don't know how I could have driven the bike without the BCM Control Module, but my dealership took care of it, and the other dealership I bought it from either didn't know better or the salesman pitched me "a story" explaining why a 2021 bike with only 108 miles on it was in their inventory. "Oh the guy's wife didn't know he bought it and she told him the family needed a new truck and not a new bike. So we took it in as his trade in for a new F150, huh huh huh huh." DRAMA

In the US, many states have legalized the Cannibus. Sometimes I smoke it in the PM for a smooth BM in the AM. Kinda surprises me that the ECM doesn't complain more, what with that fussy BCM always bossing it around.

Had a failure on my dyna. If you hit a pot hole the engine would cut out. .replaced it myself . Older bike and wasn't a fuel injection.

I no this is about harley put I have a 09 king mountain indian chief pretty sure the bcm went bad nothing is working ,just ordered a new bcm today is this going to be plug & play or will the ECM stop everything and have to take it in

and harley one is screwed up only gotta fart on harley and engine check light comes on ,fit cheap led blinkers engine light comes on ,change bars cut wires solder ,engine light comes on , heap of shit harley electronics,

My 17 dyna was throwing b2121 code and replaced the bcm and started up again 👍 put on a custom dynamics all in one plate and was fine then all the sudden wouldn't start but good now.

Internet say update BCM to fix fuel Guage (not showing proper amount in tank 2020 Softail ) is this accurate?

Yes could be one of the causes. Only way to know is to take to a dealer and ask them to do it to find out for sure

That is particular to you bike so you will have to go to a dealership for them to extract that. Cheers

@@medeone3216 Your BCM has to be matched to your ECM, otherwise it will not work and you won't be able to start the bike, whether it is key or keyless with fob. You will need to get your BCM matched your to bike ECM and VIN number and that can only be done b a workshop with proper computers. Cheers

Hi, I changed bars over and now the left controls don't work? Indicator doesn't work but hazard flash does 🤔. Also I can't check or clear the codes as the menu button doesn't work. I've checked the fuses and they seem fine. Is there some kind or reset procedure?? Cheers

Double check you plugged the connectors back into the right spots and they are fully seated. Had a similar issue and realized I had two plugs mismatched. The connections were the same but one was a three pin and one a four pin. Cables were different colors as well. Can’t remember which colors go to which but I think the left and right controls were both four pin connectors. More than likely you just have plugged into the wrong spot.

Retrace what you did and test each wire for continuity too. It’ll be a process if elimination I guess

So I changed the bars on my 21 road glide special and now I’m getting a ECM-BCM code u0142 any suggestions where it could be? RHCm Lost comm?

Yep did you pull the main fuse before doing bar change. If not, you’re getting the code because power was disconnected when you changed the wiring. So first thing to do will be to clear the codes and see if that solves your issue which the u code would tend to mean. Cheers

I’ve tried clearing the codes but as soon as it says clear and I press the button to continue to the next it keeps popping back up … I disconnect the battery for a while to see if that works but it didn’t. I tripled checked all the connectors and the color coordination to ensure they were correct and they are . Could the BCM when bad on a 2021? Or do you recommend me pulling the bars and replacing the wiring for the throttle control side… I’m going nuts here

@@davidmatias6239 hmmm did you use a wiring extension kit or modify wiring yourself? It’ll just be a case of retracing what you’ve done. I doubt the BCM is damaged but this could be a poor connection somewhere in your wiring which is giving you the u code

@@RevelatorAlf I de pinned all the connections b4 running the wires through. It was fairly easy . I didn’t use any extension,they were 12”bars and had enough wiring .I just eliminate the plastic clip housing from the harness for extra slack 😩

Good morning I’m fairly new to Harley motorcycle Last night on my ride home from work my security light came on ! This morning I checked my codes and surprisingly found 3 bcm ones. B2137 Low beam output shorted high B2151 Left rear turn signal output open B2156 Right rear turn signal output open How do I check these? Bike never shut down and seemed to be ok for the remaining 5 miles I rode. Also get a part number 69993-11a off diagnostics My bike is a 2012 Harley Davidson Softail CVO Convertible FLSTSE3 Any suggestions would be appreciated
