Bargain? All the rider aids and such are the reasons why not to buy this newer stuff. Get rid of modes, the tft screeen and vvt. Give back analogue guages. Just put on a real rear suspension, better pipes amd cam and all led lights. Those are the upgrades many of us want
@paulhall80279 ай бұрын
If that’s what you’re looking for, you’d be better off just buying a 2014 and slapping on your own upgrades. The reason that Harley riders get so much flack is in part due to the inability to embrace technology that is basically an industry standard everywhere else. I’m sure there are at least a couple guys that won’t ride anything other than a knucklehead because it’s not a “ True Harley.”

The stock upgrades this year are numerous: All LED ( finally) Improved suspension ( Finally) Weight reduction Larger storage Improved wind screen and deflection Larger stock engine ( more powerful than the 2023 117 in the ST ) Redesigned stock seat ( finally) CVO style rear lighting The point is, even if you take out the tech ( which is pretty much industry standard now ) , you’re getting a pretty much fully redesigned bagger that finally brings HD into the 21st century. Also, you get it for a substantially lower price than last year. I’m not sure how anyone can complain.

@@ViZ_FFA Yeah and guess what, the shills for these new bikes won't mention that Android phone owners are SOL, no android auto on the new bikes. Deal breaker! Won't be trading my '20 Street Glide anytime soon. Not to mention the $10K loss I'd have to take on it (and yes, I had a deal on paper with the local dealer to see where I was at, $10K loss on my SG from what I paid for it slightly used from a private party a year ago). Android Auto works beautifully on my bike. Stretched bags. Top speed way over 100. All these "awesome changes" mentioned over and over in the video... just what exactly are they again? For my $14K to boot out the door? The screen that ends up with less space left over for nav by the time you get the speedo and tach displayed? Navagation that you have to pay an additional $350 to have for 3 years? The rider aids that cut your HP in the rain (in case this is your first day on a bike...)? The farkle farings with their LED's all over the place? The thinner plastic on the saddle bags (wiggle a saddle bag lid when open if you don't believe me) and thinner metal on the tank? The change to the seat that prevents previous seats from fitting? The Fischer Price inspired inner faring that looks really really cheap from the rider's seat? And yeah, that's what you see when you're riding it, dull cheap looking plastic everywhere. It just feels like you are sitting on a cheap, bargain bike from the rider's seat, all bias aside. To me that's the biggest noticable change cosmetically, it just looks so plasticky & cheap. Plastic speaker grills that look identical to the ten dollar 8 track tape player I had as a kid in the 70's? I want to like it, I want it to make me want to spend $14K but it just doesn't. I could go on and one with all the "awesome new changes" to these bikes that have the Hegshots jumping up and down. Oh yeah and I guess that "no start" thing is no big deal at all, huh? The CVO's are beautiful. For $43K. That's the trick they played on us here. The plasticky basic bike, with a few new farkles to get the attention of today's attention span challenged buyer (yup, watch the video again if you don't believe me...), is a few thousand over the previous base bike's price. The CVO, which is TAKING THE PLACE IN HARLEY'S LINEUP OF THE SPECIALS from the past, is over ten grand more than the specials were! All at similar production costs as past model years, but MUCH HIGHER TRANSACTION PRICES. See what they did to us here? CVO's as they once were (very limited production, exclusive) no longer exist. The name CVO has taken the place of the name Special in Harley's lineup, for a ton more $$. CVO's are now and will be a dime a dozen (figuratively) at dealers everywhere, not exclusive at all, except for the high cost of admission of course. They are using the name "CVO" which had been a rare, exclusive limited production bike, on the current crop of "Specials" to make us want to pay $10K more for them. The drawer in the batwing faring looks great, nice change there. The updated suspension that adds a little travel, yeah good thing, but Ohlins would do wonders on my '20 if ride quality was a problem which it really isn't. Or factory 13" takeoffs from an Ultra. I think that's basically what they did - add another inch or so to the rear travel by putting longer shocks on than a SG or RG had previously, right? Then put on a thinner or re-shaped seat to make the ride hight feel the same. Maybe tweaked the front end a little as well. Frame is identical so they did not do anything revolutionary to the geometry or ride quality that can't be done with shocks. Sorry for the long rant, last point. The top speed of a Toyota Prius is over 100 MPH. They are NOT goverened at 100. Guess what - if you're riding a '24 with all that awesome new power you think you have... just don't get into a spat with a Prius on the freeway, 'cause that Prius is going to be able to drive away from you on top end. Or a little Honda CB500X adventure bike for example; he will pass you no problem, his top speed is 115. Or, me on my stock '20 Street Glide Special. Just sayin'...

For my first Harley, it was 2003 when the 100th Anni. models came out. Doc, the salesman at LHD suggested I look at a used bike to save money. I ended up with a 2002 RG and saved $5000 over a 2003 because everyone was trading in their bikes for the 2003 Anniversary bikes. So, there are upsides and downsides when the new models come out. If I could afford a new bike right now, I would look at the 2024 RG because I have a great credit union, so interest rates don't worry me at the dealer. The 2002 RG was financed at 23.99% at the dealer for 6 yrs. I refinanced it 2 days later at 3.99% for 5 yrs and saved $100 a month on the payments. I have some knee issues atm, but hopefully when I have recovered, the 2024 will be in the used bike market and I can get a good price on one.

But when it does, I’m fully prepared for some serous pointing and hatin’ from some of the riding community.. But I love the bike so much, I won’t really care. 😊

I just purchased a 22' RGS in Reef Blue/Vivid Black because of the 2024 models. I figured that they already have insane amount of aftermarket parts, the look of the rushmore fairing is iconic and if you get the giant screen on the 24 models, you loose the ability to have physical gauges etc etc... not to mention i just dont know what the aftermarket will do with the headlight on the 24 RG

So I rode the Street Glide and the Road Glide . Nice bikes BUT i got way too much wind from both bikes. I asked the dealer to put on different windshield on both and i rode both . That still did'nt help either . And those "winglets" that are attached to the forks ..well they didn't do shit either . The whole thing with buying one of these bikes is for the fairing to mitigate the wind , As for the windshield ..its just for looks or like a ramp for the bugs , wind , debris and everything else to hit you in the face . The inner fairing looks a bit cheap too. The ride was nice in all the modes , rain , road and sport . I'm not sure what HD was thinking with the re-design of the fairings on these bikes but for me.. I'll keep my 16 Street Glide for now.

Just bought a 24 Street Glide, traded in my 17 Ultra 128. They done great things with the cams and am getting 130T on the 117 with stock. Bike looks great, rides great, wants to take off and leave you standing in the street. My biggest issue is there's virtually nothing available from a performance standpoint. You can get a big air kit and add exhaust, but that is it. No stage upgrades available at all for the motor and am told not to expect any for at least a year. Outside of that, the windshield is quite low and leaves you getting blasted with air. It comes with the smoked version and the only thing Harley offers that is a little taller are clear versions. Handlebar controls are very busy. If you're wearing gloves, it's difficult to operate them because it's such a far reach for your thumb from the grip to the control. Especially on the throttle side, where when you want to change a song, trying to do that with gloves on will find you accidentally pulling the throttle open so be careful.

And don't even get me started on the new CVO's...they were everywhere. I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen them all riding around. How so many people can afford $45-50,000 motorcycles is beyond me.

You've put into words what I've been thinking since the rollout in January. It was very exciting, but it also had a whole briefcase full of "WUT?" attached. I think there will be a bit of turmoil in the marketplace until the 23 models are off the showroom floor and the used model market balances out. It could be very possible that, for the first time in a long time, owners of older bikes will take a hit on value.

Why? What's the big change with the '24s?
@1Steson9 ай бұрын
@@scarhart53 OK I'll play along. They lowered the top speed, cheapened the faring up, cheapened the bags and the gas tank, and took away the jeweled gauges for a computer game screen with computer generated gages with a little tiny area between them where a big navigation screen used to be. And added a bunch of LED lights which really really improves the overall riding experience and helps you connect with nature according to the video they put out. Oh and they took away Android Auto, you now get to pay $350 for the privlege of using their built-in navigation, and added a new condition at no extra charge called "no start condition" that gives you a chance to enjoy your favorite road side views with no wind noise. @@1Steson you are so misinformed it’s crazy. Firstly, they didn’t cheapen anything. The bags are bigger ( slightly) , the fairing blocks more wind, the gas tank has the same capacity, but shed 3 pounds. They updated the technology on the infotainment ( it’s the 21st century) . Harley did drop android auto support. Android did. Added RDRS for free. They basically gave the majority of the buyers exactly what they wanted. But if you don’t like it, don’t buy it.
