A fun build of a kit made or young boys in the 50s.

Nice work. I remember hand painting a Mig 17 (? brand) with Dulux silver my Dad had in the garage in about 1970. Looked OK (I thought). The drying time of glue/enamel paint was the main restriction on build time back then. Great fun . Cheers Matt🦘

I like to see these old kits and the nostalgia builds bring back memories. In the late fifties an uncle in the Air Force gave me a lot of his assembled models and they were usually made like this. No super detailing, minimal painting but was I ever happy to get them!

@@Nogill0 I like adding those old builds to my collection when I find them. There is a vid of restoring an old builds Aurora Panther Jet on the channel.

Love the molded in decal placements! Alot of people slammed Aurora for that. Love your vids and all the best!

I build these early releases the same way for nostalgia & a break from filling, sanding, detailing, & airbrushing. Mine was an Academy issue.Used an Atlantis re-pop of Revell's swivel stand which they sell separately. On all these type builds I seal the decals with Future/Pledge. Atlantis has now reissued the kit.

@@stuarthanna2417 Its great Atlantis is including the old globe stands. You can also get decals separately from them.

@@paulbervid1610 Thanks Paul! After I was done, I had the decals with a bit of Micro-Sol. Now they are all rippled!!
@JMdfcv16 күн бұрын
@@CelebratingVintageModelKits I think that is the normal reaction to the solvent. They should smooth out after a bit. If not, carefully apply some more solvent. That’s been my experience using Micro Set & Sol and the Tamiya decal solvents.

@ They got a little better after a while but still a mess. I may order a set of decals from Atlantis since they offer decals on their repops
@JMdfcv15 күн бұрын
@@CelebratingVintageModelKits Solid plan! The Atlantis decals would be a nice touch (they include a pair of squadron markings) plus you could get a swivel display stand to put the repop aircraft identification circular decal on (or just apply that decal to a piece of sheet styrene and place next to your bird on the shelf).

Nice enough kit if you’re willing to put a bit of effort into correcting the minor deficiencies, the only thing I don’t like is the moulded in markings, it means you have to rub down the entire aircraft if you want to use other decals, in my case I would prefer to put the F-100 into the civilian scheme used by Tracor Flight Systems when used for target towing.
@WAL_DC-6B16 күн бұрын
Oh heck, if you're going to go through the trouble to build this F-100C kit, you'd be best to just leave those embossed markings on to help promote the fact that it's a vintage model.
@CelebratingVintageModelKits16 күн бұрын
@@mrjockt If you’re going to do all that you might as well buy a newer kit.

@@morgandude2 You didn't paint plane to silver, just nose and details.
@CelebratingVintageModelKits16 күн бұрын
@@arghons.hobby.workshop The point was to build it like a kid in the 50s. The kits were molded in colors so you didn’t have to paint it. Hence an all bare metal plane modeled in silver. Decals went down fine on the plastic. The bigger issue was the molded markings can create a challenge which would still be a challenge if painted. The problem with these decals is they are nearly 40 years old. You have to remember 95% of kits in the 50s were built by kids. Not like today where 95% of kits are built by adults.
