I haven't personally build it, but knowing the age of the kit, the hinges are not going to be the best, it's just very old tooling, but you have the skills to turn it into a show winner, thanks for the shout out Justin, 👍👍😎

I'm surprised 😮😎. 1,that you've picked that kit, I really like it👍. 2,that no-one has given advice on those hinges😕. Personally, I'd look at the parts of the hinges and consider rebuilding them. 😁. I think the engine is a chore to replace the exhaust. 😕. Have fun, pretend you're 12,and use the flames👍😁. Best wishes from jolly old England 👍😎Pete 🤓

Thanks Pete! I'm looking at the hinges at the moment, and I "THINK" if I'm lucky they may actually work out. Cheers.

@@JHartModelworks builds I've seen show lot of airspace around the doors. The hinge parts look a good idea. New wire pins and a round hole may well improve the pivot action. 😜. Hope you don't mind me talking to you properly instead of 'awesome build man' type comments. Best wishes from jolly old 👍😎Pete 🤓

@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 Nah Pete I'm all for communicating in the comments section. I get very little interaction with the outside world. Honestly messing with the joints here, they actually work fairly well. There are raised ejector marks that ill cause interference if they aren't cleaned up. but just holding them together the action is descent and fairly secure. The trick is going to be getting the door parts lined up with the cab parts. My plan is once the body parts are sanded and polished out, I'm going to tape the doors to the cab to hold them where I want them. Then I can slide the hinge parts through the opening, line them up together and clamp them with an alligator clip, that way I can line up and glue them to the body so they will sit together and flush. You know what they say about the best laid plans...

Great idea about the hinges. I can't believe someone put a different kit lower piece in there lol. I've bought so many kits on ebay that I never went through when I got them and I'm sure I'm going to regret that when I start getting into them lol.

Thanks Joe. I honestly have had really good luck. But this time it got me. At least I was able to get it sorted pretty easy.

Never built this kit so cant say much on those hinges shouldn't be to hard to make your own looks pretty clean for a old kit those headers are really bad looking big differences on that missing part and good you found the right one I be watching your build enjoy 👍

That looks an interesting build. The hinges look like with a few mods, they should work ok. Shame about the engine moulding looking so soft on details. Again with a few mods, it should come out fine. Good luck with it. Cheers Bob 👍🍻
@JHartModelworks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bob. I have some plans for the engine, hopefully I can clean it up a bit.
@Bob0sModelFabWorx3 жыл бұрын
If the rules allow, discard that very bad flathead engine and find one better. Or see if they allow a currant engine to be used like a SBC. The kit engine has the correct exhaust but it's very poorly molded.
@JHartModelworks3 жыл бұрын
The only rule is the subject has to be pre 12/7/1941. I don't really want to wait on shipping at the moment, so I'll probably do some creative modification to split the exhaust and try to sharpen it up as best I can. Sometimes challenges like this are good learning opportunities.
