Fantastic Job. Love your paint job! Me personally, I prefer the 1:24th over 1:25 which is okay as Tamiya and the old Monogram molds are all 1:24. The lack of detail on the skeletons has always annoyed me on this kit, but I've built it about a half-dozen times! The kit does have exceptional fit especially for a kit from the 1970s.
@rickbeam23256 жыл бұрын
The Tom Daniels kits Typically had Great Quality and Fitment of the parts which set them Apart From some Monogram lits that were not Monogram YD subjects. Maybe it was because the TD kits were Targeted and Often bought by kids as their First entry into Scale Auto building. Typically I too am not into Military Subject theme etc. But Since I Grew up in Deep snow n Logging Mountain Areas This would make a interesting Snow Cat type Vehicle for Forest Service or Logging Company by Switching Front Wheels for Ski Tracks or Staying a set onto the Wheels
@Tobys-Glue-Bomber-Circus6 жыл бұрын
@@rickbeam2325, one exception might be the Sand Crab/ Li'l Van. The engine on the that thing is a pain in the butt. Part of the problem is the plating but also just some parts just don't have guide pins and the instructions are less than helpful with the assembly. I've got a few of these on the shelf and I definitely have plans for a kit bash with one of them. It's is just a fun kit.

An interesting kit from yesteryear, back when German involvement in World War II was deemed a suitable subject for fantasy and amusement. The design, a Tom Daniels classic, seems to take inspiration from the 'Big' Mercedes Benz 770, and the German halftrack, possibly the 8-ton model used throughout the war. It's just as likely 'Hogan's Heroes' played as much of a role in the design of this car as anything else, since the Internet hadn't been invented yet, and nobody bothered doing much research at the local branch of their Public Library; Rommel himself rarely, if ever, used the 770 as a staff car; as an army commander moving rapidly along evolving lines of the desert campaign, he preferred the more nimble Horch (associated with Audi, far less known to North Americans of the post-war period), and usually sat up front with the driver. Still, the great big Mercedes with its heavy-duty engine and heavy-duty branding might be considered a more suitable model to turn into such a vehicle. At least seven 770s were paraded at car shows throughout the sixties and seventies (mostly advertised as 'Hitler's Limousine!!') along with the ubiquitous 'Bonnie & Clyde Death Car!!', and the fuzzy version of the 'Batmobile'. I built this kit back in the day, and was pleased to find all the usual traits of a Monogram car kit: the slightly larger size, making parts a little easier on young hands; generally good fit of parts, few sinkholes, nicely-designed accessories, and excellent decal sheets. I did NOT find the Monogram painting guide, placed at the very end of the instruction sheet, terribly helpful. The tank tracks, molded as single parts, were disappointing then, and they still disappoint today (I had built many Airfix tank kits in HO scale and was used to a more complex arrangement); present-day builders may wish to substitute parts from other kits, if that is possible. There is a rather small amount of chrome-plated parts provided in this kit; as a fantasy subject one might consider the signal lights blisters, the headlights, the fog lights, the window frames, the exhaust system, the door handles, the flagstaffs, and even the machine guns (Daniels' 'Red Baron' featured extensive chrome, duly represented in that kit release). Posable front wheels are typically not a Monogram feature, something builders may wish to alter here as well, and there are a number of additional accessories seen on armour of the period (tow cables, hand tools, tarps, bedrolls, perhaps a mobile radio set) that builders may also wish to add. Thanks for posting.
