Sorry, by the time I took the photos I wasn’t planning to make a video out of it, I’m terrible at it, that said I did a somewhat better explanation on scalemates website , you can check it out and hopefully It can help a bit: www.scalemates.com/profiles/mate.php?id=16302&p=albums&album=47068&i=105#105

Amazing vid! Do you have any tips on how to fix the ride height, I'm about to start this kit (the martini version) and I would love for mine to look as good as yours!
@cesarignjas2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks, the front is not so difficult as you can shave the strut's mount molded on the body , the rear is more complex as you have to thin down the suspension assembly of the engine and rear arms to make them "rotate" a bit to get the wheel sitting higher, but there's a point were the rubber of the thick tire touches the celling of the wheel well , you can mount the rubber tire on a drill and sand off a god chunk of the rubber , I should have shaved more on mine to be honest, this itself helps a lot as this proportion on the kit looks like a top fuel dragster

@@cesarignjas Thank you for the reply! This is my first ever kit, so would you recommend for me to try and do what you did, is it do-able for a beginner? Or should I just buy wheels with smaller tires?
@cesarignjas2 жыл бұрын
@@ssully1069 well, it always depend how far you want to go into the rabbit hole of improving what came in the box :-D the sky is the limit, to start the quickest improvement would be fitting the rear rubber tire into a drill and spin it into a corse sand block an shave a healthy chunk of the rubber, also remove like one millimeter or so from the mounting on the body from front suspension, the model will already get lower and looks much better
@ssully10692 жыл бұрын

Absolutely brilliant glossy finish! I'm very impressed by your polishing. How's it done?
@cesarignjas5 жыл бұрын
The main step is the preparation sanding down the imperfections with multiple grits of sand paper, the polishing itself is very quick using power tools I intend to do one video tutorial only about this theme but In the final video of my Corvette series at 13:45 I show a little about the process kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZnRmnlrrZKIY5I&lc=z22yxt5jawmtidfyn04t1aokgqswnbymmxxoyfwccxnxrk0h00410.1566496707361732

Awesome, I have the Jagermeister. Yes, I noted from another builder's YT video that the ride height was an issue. How did you correct it? Great job, BTW! I also bought the 1/12 Tamiya kit, but will try the smaller one first. I bought THAT kit when it was first released in 1976 (I was 15), but never finished it. It was way too complex for a spotty-faced teenager, but I bought it 45 years later, and WILL finish it. Love your work :-)
@cesarignjas3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks a lot, about the correction there were several steps, there's a link in the description to the full album on Scalemates were you can find more explanation between pictures 44 and 48 but basically I was test fitting, looking around and figuring out were I could gain some more height reduction and sanded/shaved a lot, in the end the rear tire was sitting on the wheel arch and I scraped it from below to thin it down, I sanded the rubber by hand to reduce the tire's diameter, if I would do it again today I would be using a power tool to make it spin, the Revell tires have a very tall tire wall and you can remove a lot of it, will help a lot. www.scalemates.com/profiles/mate.php?id=16302&p=albums&album=47068#103

@@cesarignjas Thankyou so much, Cesar! I will have a look at the site (have done, briefly, and I have now subscribed to your channel) ... Maybe the tyres from the Tamiya 1/24 kit (I have that, too) will fit on the Revell, which I think is a better kit, ride height notwithstanding. You created a masterpiece. Gorgeous model, my friend.

0:25 so do you have to make all the holes?
@cesarignjas4 жыл бұрын
Lots of them were closed by the chrome plated finish, 0:31 shows the before and after, I drilled all the small ones, the big ones were OK, it isn't a mandatory step, you can also just do a black wash in the front and let the dark paint sink into the holes but I preferred to do this way.

Beautifully built. Where do you get the MIPA 2k clear, and whats a control spoon? :)
@cesarignjas5 жыл бұрын
MIPA clear coat I found here on Germany on Ebay, just search for" Mipa 2K-HS-Klarlack "CS85" inkl. Härter + Verdünnung, 1 Liter Set " , "control spoon" is just a cheap plastic disposable spoon that I paint alongside with the model, first do in the spoon and later on the model, every step with the same material and timing, primer, paint, decal, clear coat, wash, oil, etc, repeat in the spoon all you intend to do in the car so if you have some adverse reaction on the spoon, you can detect it before ruin your model. prevent a lot of frustration, trust me! :-)
