Thank you for the compliment. I'm going to do this one again, as I have the kit with the lights and sound from Revell to do this winter. Thanks, Dale

I've actually studied the enterprise pretty thoroughly when I was a kid and the grills for the inside of the Warp engines should be blue not yellow 4 TOS
@thesloppymodeler3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, at the time I didn't have any blue leds. And when I tried to do the raytheon lighting, it turned out yellow vs. white. Thanks

No lighting on the inside of the warp nacelles in TOS .

Thanks Norman, learning the wiring is one thing, learning the resistor values gives me a headache. But I'll get there. Thanks again! Dale

Thank you for the video! I just bought this kit from Amazon for $60. Should make a great companion piece for the new 1/1000 scale Enterprise from Discovery.

you prolly dont care but if you guys are bored like me atm you can stream pretty much all of the latest series on Instaflixxer. Been watching with my brother for the last few days :)

Nice looking model! Looking to light up my first kit I have this and a 1/350 but am intimidated by wiring up my own as I am new to the electronic game. Do you have any advice recommendations on how to to the strobe nav lights on models on a diy setup ? I only have done basic stuff with led strips
@thesloppymodeler2 жыл бұрын
I learned a ton from Interstellar Modeler, but this is a challenge for most of us. One source is Hobby Link International. They have some great strobe boards that are really all you need, and they are relatively affordable. Good luck! Dale

My favorite as well... Great job, too bad about the dropping nacelle though...

Thanks, I have the new version with a built in light kit. So I will take another run at this. But, the Nacelles are going to be solid on this one!

@@thesloppymodeler Any chance we could see your progression on the new version sir, Thought about that particular purchase, but found it a bit steep price wise. Would like to see the inc light system working.
@thesloppymodeler4 жыл бұрын
@@johnpatrickfay5288 John, it's in the stash, and I want to do it soon. Because this fall, I'm finally going to tackle one of the TOS 1/350s that I've been waiting to do. I wanted to wait until my skill set improved. I think by doing this one, it should prepare me for the big one. I'm thinking I'll be able to get to it in August or early September. Yes, it is pricey, but I wanted to rectify the drooping nacelle from this one, and light it with their supplied kit. Thanks for the nudge.

I am about to start building the Revell myself. Can you elaborate on what you might have done differently to keep the nacelle’s from drooping?
@thesloppymodeler5 жыл бұрын
I was careless and used just plastic cement. The attach points are large but shallow without a lot of surface area to connect. So, if I was going to do this one over, I would use a jig to hold both Nacelles in place while the glue dried. Plus, I would probably use 5 min epoxy this time, not plastic cement. My joint had too much paint and primer in it to hold really well, so that also contributed to the droop. I wish you luck and fine modeling skills. This kit really is fantastic!
@SWHS-JG2 жыл бұрын
Hi, great job. I'm mid build and working on lighting the nacelles but can you explain how you got the back exhaust to glow? It's a solid plastic piece. Did you make a mold and create a plastic piece? I know, original Enterprise didn't glow but I love that look. Any help would be great. Again, the lights look great.
@thesloppymodeler2 жыл бұрын
Jeff, first off, I love your avatar. For the back exhaust, I added a Yellow 5mm LED that shines directly into those exhaust balls for lack of better terminology. The bulbs are literally right behind the plastic. Then, I did not light block that endcap ball, but did light block the grey portion. Finally, I put one light coat of white primer, not paint on the outside, which is also what I did for the planetary sensor. I've got one more of these kits which came from Revell Germany with the lighting kit. I have not opened the box at all, so I don't know if that will have any type of Nacelle/exhaust effect. Good luck with your build, and watch-out for those leaning nacelles!

The Franklin mint die cast model has the deep saucer grid and a few inaccuracies. $300 for that model, a few months ago bought the Hallmark Enterprise ornament, much better, lighted, and at $150.
@thesloppymodeler Жыл бұрын
This kit is well engineered, however, those panel lines and deep hull, make for an odd bit of display.
@ThatEEguy28183 жыл бұрын
Do kits like this come with the light positions already cut or do you have to drill and file them.
@thesloppymodeler3 жыл бұрын
They are already precut. It makes for a nice model to light. The only problem is those pronounced grid lines everywhere. Good Luck!
@AsianFlew3 жыл бұрын
I own this just to have it, I think the overall shape of the saucer and nacelles are good, but the weird shape of the secondary hull and the heavy grid lines ruin it for me. Nice build though! Edit: Oops, just realized this is an old video.
@thesloppymodeler3 жыл бұрын
Sure, but I still love this ship, not necessarily this version of it, but of the smallish ships, this is a fairly decent kit, except for the grid lines, and the shape of the hull. Good luck with yours!
@Jim-El3 жыл бұрын
What do you do when the lights stop working?
@thesloppymodeler3 жыл бұрын
Haven't had that problem yet. I used some high quality LEDs so maybe I can keep from having to crack it open and repair anytime soon! Thanks!
@cinematic353 жыл бұрын
The deep cut lines on the saucer top ruined the look of the model. I can't believe they did that. The lines are extremely thin and to be drawn out in pencil like on the original enterprise. I suppose you could fill in the lines, sand it then spray it and that would look like the studio model. You can't fool a Trekkie
@thesloppymodeler3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. This would be a great kit rivaling the Polar Lights Kits if they would make it a smoothie. It does go together very well and it is possibly the easiest one to light. Trek On!
