Install of the 2014 Toyota Corolla Fender: • Video
TOOLS NEEDED:
Socket wrench with 10mm socket and extension and a flat-head screwdriver, and much preferred, a panel clip remover. The yellow tap is optional but does guard you against scratching any adjacent panels.
INSTRUCTIONS:
It best to turn the wheel to access the push pins that are holding the fender liner on. Taping adjacent panels are not necessary, but it does guard against any kind of damage that may occur when removing the fender. At the bottom of the fender, underneath the care, there is a push pin securing the fender liner. Remove the rest of the push pins along the bottom portion of the fender. There is a different, much smaller push pin holding the fender onto the bumper. It's no different from any other push pin, just much smaller. The trick to removing any of the push pins is by wedging your screwdriver (or panel clip remover) and popping the center pinout. The last pin is a bit of a hybrid between a screw and clip. Use your flat head screwdriver to twist the pin so the line is horizontal (like a screw), then pop it on like a pushpin. Moving on to the bottom of the car, there is a 10mm bolt on the bottom corner of the bumper. Make your way to the right a little and there is one last bolt holding the fender liner on.
Make your way to the top of the bumper to remove 3 bolts on top of the fender attached to the frame. The first bolt is securing the headlight to the fender. Once the bolt is off, pop the headlight off the fender. It is not necessary to remove the front bumper, but you can you want. We recommend that you just pop the corner of the bumper from the fender to the headlight off. Just pull it out until you hear it snap off. There is a bumper bracket that is bolted onto the frame. Remove the bolts, 3 on the bracket and one below. We’re almost done, just a few more bolts to go. There is a small plastic cover just in front of the side view mirror that needs to be popped off. There should be one bolt behind the cover and below it behind the door. Going back to the bottom of the fender, there is 2 10mm bolts side by side. Another bolt is inside the fender behind a plastic noise dampener. You have to pop it off by hand, it is not secured by any bolts. There is the most unnecessary bolt in the middle. The last bolt is on the top corner of the cowl, closest to the windshield. Now, the fender should be ready to remove. Gently pry it off without scratching any adjacent panels.
