​@@rocket2739as soon as you fire on target you pop up on radar, opportunity weapons like cannons you'll just pop off again but weapons like beams even if you're zero heat and silent running you'll still be on radar until you stop firing and are 1km away from target.

Once their drives are down, couldn't you have kept hammering their power plant in hopes of triggering an instakill or did they remove that mechanic? I don't do PvP but that's something that works for NPCs.

Aside of the torps, I didn't have any other weapons than the packhound missiles, which are great for damaging exposed modules like weapons or thrusters, but can't do damage to internal modules like FSD or Powerplant. Plus even if I did have other weapons as well, I probably wouldn't want kill him anyway, I'm just not a fan of killing other CMDRs just like that.

OK been playing ED for a very long time (Elite on Apple IIe, yeah ... that long!) but I don't even know what "logging" is. Not a big gamer overall, so I'm not up to speed and I don't keep up with cheat methods since the idea of doing such things is not why I game. I like the journey, not so much the need to "win". So please tell me what logging is and how it affects gameplay.

Combat logging is basically when you exit the game while engaged in a combat with someone else, reason mostly being trying to avoid being destroyed. It can be done multiple ways, for example pulling out the internet cable, force shutting down the game through task manager etc. Which are ways that also break the game's TOS, or going to menu and waiting 15 seconds to be able to log out without violating the terms of service. This one was most likely menu log. It's not bannable offence, but is a dishonest practice nevertheless.

I suppose I could do it. There Is however a Reason to why I built a federal Gunship for this purpose, And not any alliance ship, altho I really love them (I've got 3 challengers And 2 Chieftains XD). All ships have their respective heat generation statistic that cannot be changed no matter the build or engineering, And this Is better for FGS. It means that it just simply produces less heat, And So you can stay hidden/fight with low heat signature longer. Alliance ship could be done tho, if you want. I'd just probably think about it you want a fighter in the build, And if not, go for some of the other alliance ships. The Crusader really sacrifices almost every other stat for the option to have fighter And it's not a good tradeoff in this case.

hm just got the idea of easy solution to clogging. If someone disconnects, their ship stays in the instance, pilotless, for 15 seconds. Ofc if enemy can't kill them in 15 seconds, it won't that much of an issue

I mean, yeah thats about he first solution everyone thinks of, and if it was possible they would surely do it. Thing is, Elite's Peer to peer networking architecture doesn't allow for that, info about your ship's position and status in space for example isnt being processed on any frontier server or sth, it's just on your PC and being sent to other ppl in your instance, so if your PC loses connection, there's no way to keep the ship there anyway. Ofc there's the 15 seconds timer in the menu, and that's not violation of TOS to do that, but ppl still sometimes just pull the ethernet cable or shut down the game in task manager to make it faster which is a violation of TOS.

At the end of 15s period they send data to the server with the status of the ship; when clogger re-logs in, server gives him ship with health lowered by however much his opponents managed to, or even redeployment screen

Going shieldless in Shinra is one mistake. Coming back there in Open with millions of credits worth of exploration or biological data instead of Solo is a VERY bad idea

in fairness what else is he gonna do? his drives are trashed so he cant move or do anything, and since he saw heliaxx seemingly not give it a real effort in killing (i know you said the ship isnt meant to be killed in anouther comment) but to the other guy he likely saw it as being a waste of time for him and just left so he can return to solo, repair his drives and fly out to a station, to repair. i dont blame people who do the 15s timer, exspeccually if their intentunally not being kileld but not allowed to do anything. i do kinda like the 15s timer, its more of a legal shame, but gives you more reason to go for Buffing youre ship for survivability, to survive those 15 seconds. if they cant kill youre ship in 15 seconds while its motionless, then ya id say they werent getting that kill to begin with. sinc ei live with a rule in the game, you want to be able to dispatch a ship quickly, mainly the harder hitting ones, if you cant they become a genuine threat at killing you, a ship capable of surviving for a prolonged period of time, mainly in conflict zones are going to be the most likely doom of you since they also tag team you, so dealign with the hardest hitting and hardest to kill ones first, vastly increases youre survival odds.

Well, I think you actually want 6 torps, and even then actually, if someone has the biggest normal B class shield possible on cutter engineered for integrity, even that's still gonna leave it on literally 1% integrity :D But pretty much noone runs that so yea, 6 should be totally enough for most encounters.

The videos Never get boring. However, I logged for the 1st time years ago because I feared being up against real players for the 1st time but you know, when I grew some balls, I went back to the cmdr, apologised & we did battle. Being honest & being to another player taught me loads. I have NEVER logged since. We all get 1 chance to log because 1st time PVP is scary but after that, grow balls or stay in Solo. Sure, I guess almost everyone logged at some point in the game, in the beginning atleast I guess, when I was starting out I logged against some NPC pirates who threatened my fully loaded type 6/9 which I just spent last 3 hours filling painite mining 😃 If I recall correctly I never logged in a PVP engagement to player tho, that might be partly because I actually started to go play in open pretty late, already with mostly fully engineered ships and stuff and I went training evading gankers to deciat 😃 I guess it's just important that everybody stops eventually and it doesn't become a habit. Because if you log out when faced the smallest possible danger - what's even the point in playing in solo then right? If one wants purely positive player interactions, there's always Mobius private group for example.

I did Solo for about 6 months while getting use to the new concept of 'Elite' being a sandbox of no limits, I mean, 'Elite' 3 on the Amiga was huge & blew my mind back in the early 90's but 'Elite Dangerous' as it was known back in 2014 was all new, the biggest sandbox play area of that time, it knocked my socks off. The 'Elite Dangerous' Galaxy was (& still is) so beautiful, tears of amazement just fell from my eyes, no squeezing of the eye lids, just genuine natural emotions of what I was witnessing. People moan about the trip in Supercruise to Stations, I love the traveling so much, I pay a visit to Hutton Orbital on a regular basis to buy some special Gin that can only be purchased from Hutton Orbital. My collection of Gin is my clock of how many times I have made the trip. 'Elite' franchise has been in my life since Christmas 1984 as 'Star Wars' has been in my life since 1977. I got to see the original 'Star Wars' before it became 'A New Hope'. The only Difference, Darth Vader at the end of 'Return of the Jedi' after the very 1st remake to make story room for 'The Phantom Menace'. Not many people know that small fact. You still awake? James walker combat logging is an exploit that is very commonly used unfortunately, when im pirating I can tell you that it gets annoying when they do it. They chose to enter open play mode, they should accept the possible consequences too.

Combat logging is not an available option for how to play the game. It's considered cheating/exploiting. It's that simple. Yea, it's dumb to complain about gankers.. Cause they are playing the game their way... Dumb to complain about legit pirates... Bounty hunters... Explorers.. Traders... Etc, but those are all legitimate ways to play the game. Combat logging is not a legitimate way to play the game, and is therefore open game to criticism, just like it's okay to complain about aimbots in games, or hackers, etc. Clogging is among their ranks.

Sorry that some players don’t want to deal with your invincible Uber-FSD-mega r4pe anti player ship whose only purpose is to kill players when they are trying to enjoy the game the way they want while also playing with others. You see, PvP is not balanced in this game. A player who has not committed his entire game to PvP doesn’t stand a chance against these ships, and would rather just turn the game off than have to deal with you while you also go on KZbin and whine about how he didn’t just sit there and let your invincible ship kill him. Well, Im sorry but combat logging simply is against the game's TOS, and even menu logging I personally consider to be pretty scummy practice, just like ganking. I can understand if newbie who doesnt know what's ok to do does it, but then there are people who abuse it. And Im sorry but everyone can build themselves a ship that will be in 95% of alll scenarios totally gankproof, even with no engineering, and dedicate not even an hour to learn gank evasion. And once you do, it's actually even pretty satisfying to be able to escape anyone who attacks you by using purely in game mechanics and no exploits. And sure, you will still find yourself in situations where you know you'd be pissed if you got destroyed and know your current ship wouldnt be sure to withstand a gank. But that's precisely the situation where I will log into solo. I just see no reason to go play in open if when I actually got attacked, I would just clog anyways, whats the point then.

I had this natural power. My internet is slow af everytime i meet someone they said i was disapear on their radar but i can still see them and even make some damage. Frontier didnt fix this problem, i play other game had no issue even with 200ping. Only this game that im going to be invisible. Before frontier fix their netcode this can be opportunity for griefer. When I pirate someone, he just gets to have potentially pretty nice RP chat, and at most having to give up like 20 our of his 500 Cargo. I don't think it's that bad interaction at all and I have made lots of friends doing it. And hey if you think you can Escape I don't even mind if you try it, and if you manage it, good on you, it's actually impressive. @@cmdrHeliaxx no you don't get it, I'm a pirate myself, but it's you who said that you were toying with him here, and I'm just talking about this particular situation, which I find despicable. I explicitly said that I was talking about this particular situation so I was not talking about you as a person, of course I don't know you, nor was I judging your playstile as a whole, so pointing out that there are other videos does not change my opinion about this one. He was clearly new to the game, I think it could have been handled differently, I'm not sure why I would ever want to publish a video like this one where I would show bad piloting and bad behaviour against a noob. But as i said, that's just me. I hope I made it a bit more clear, I'm sure you are a great guy and have become a great pilot aswell, I just don't like what I see in this specific case.
