@justingarcia77227 жыл бұрын
We are living in an interesting time for definitions. With the availability of so much information and Immediate dialogue, we can more quickly advance our knowledge on preconceptions. Case in point, literally ANYTHING with a clean blended tone (I.e tubescreamer) or flat response (I.e bluesdriver) were clumped together as “transparent” overdrives despite their giant differences. Discerning players, particularly live players, really only had to concern themselves with asking themselves, “is this a rhythm or lead tone,” and through that usually intuitively gravitated towards bass cut, mid boost, vice a versa, et cetera et cetera...now we literally know what all this means as a community so we can come out with more accurate designs, for better or worse. The market is filled with active eq, parametric eq, 2k boost and mid boost pedals, full range selectable clipping options....literally a studio junkie or tone tweaker dream, that is, depending on how crippling option paralysis can be for you...
@DroneCorpse7 жыл бұрын
crippling option paralysis is only a problem for gearheads. people writing music just pick up the first one that works. the fact that there are so many amazing sounding pedals out there only works to our collective advantage.

Like all EQD pedals if it's exactly what you need it's irreplaceable. It just sounds less "out there" compared to your space spiral and afterneath.
@cosmicoctopusband30923 жыл бұрын
That’s because this is an overdrive and those are modulation pedals. I would be very concerned if they sounded remotely similar. 🤷🏻♂️
@cactus_judy39292 жыл бұрын
@@cosmicoctopusband3092 no shit. I meant in broad terms of how it affects your signal. afterneath is like seven delay pedals all clumped into one. It's too unique to call a delay, as such, and you wouldn't use it in the same way you'd use a dd7. But this creates a pretty standard sound in comparison.

Earthquaker must have quite the marketing budget- every time they release a new pedal 15 demos show up the same day. As opposed to most companies who release one of their own and then the usual suspects eventually roll them out. This is especially obvious when the pedal is as groundbreakingly revolutionary as a transparent overdrive. Edit: There are currently 19 demos on YT for a pedal that came out 2 days ago, which is more than some renowned pedals that have been out for years.

I HAVE A LOW WATTAGE combo amp, so id like to know exactly why this would pair well with my amp
@markferguson37455 жыл бұрын
Because the amp doesn't have enough power , and the bass frequencies literally use ALL the available power if pushed; a properly EQ'ed pre amp re dresses this imbalance to a large extent.This is like a boost and an EQ in one, no fuss.If you don't agree, send it back .

First demo that i said wait this might actually be a better choice than plumes.
@Luke-yv6uo6 ай бұрын
Do it. Depends on what you’re looking for obviously, but I find the Westwood much more useful than the Plumes. If you’re looking for an overdrive with more gain and a more familiar tone (tube screamer adjacent), then go Plumes. If you want something with a more atypical, but more pleasing tone (imo) plus lots of tone shaping capabilities with the active EQ and is also an amazing clean boost, go Westwood. Westwood is my favorite drive yet and I’ve tried a fair amount. Just has an addicting tone that’s so satisfying to play for some reason. This video is a very representation of the tone you can expect from one.

Difference between Westwood and Plumes? Which is better for tightening the bottom end of a fuzz pedal or overdriven amp for heavy chugging? I do this with a Boss DS-1x but it sounds harsh and digital, looking for something warm and organic
@ewetoo3 жыл бұрын
I have that question myself, is Westwood just another tubescreamer-type overdrive with benefits? Plumes IS a tubescreamer-type but tries to give you several different clipping options. The selling-point of Westwood is its massive EQ band, which is trying to be more adaptable to different amps but it might also help with your quest because it's a symmetrical clipper and not the asymmetrical harshness of the DS-1x.
