The best thing to do on reverb is to find the shop/person and call the shop directly or find a way to contact the seller directly for a local pickup etc. This way you avoid all taxes and horrible reverb fees. Especially as a seller, you take a hit so hard and you get a nice 1099-K tax form you have to pay the government if you made more than $600. As a buyer you always get a better deal buying directly and not through reverb, call the shop and they almost always waive the reverb fee they’d have to pay if it were bought through reverb.

Still have to pay fed tax if you sold at a loss relative to your basis?
Күн бұрын
I have never sold anything on Reverb. Don't want the 1099K. Sell it locally via other methods. Reverb is great to locate the sellers and call them and do the sale off this expensive sellers fee tyrant money grubbing Reverb!!
@homegrownsonКүн бұрын
Might be some tax changes with new administration, if so a repeal f Bidens tax and 1099 might disappear
@TweedTones23 сағат бұрын
@ it varies per state. In my state it’s $600. Reverb has a detailed amount including the states that have different caps
@maverick_trail22 сағат бұрын
This is true and I've done it many times. I've found that business sellers are cool with it, but many individual sellers either think you're going to scam them or lack the capacity to understand tax/fee avoidance. Instead they'll stick with their high price and wait instead of taking the quick/easy sale.

Evening boys, I have all of my gear in Reverb under the collection. I always use my price out the door instead of Reverbs estimate. I also scan the receipts and put the scans in with the pics. I use ALL of the manufacturer's specs in the website description, ser #'s ect. Awesome tool on Reverb.

It's been up at least since the last time I bought a guitar on the site so at least a year or two. The best part of the feature is it let's you view other collections that have been made public so you know whose house to rob. 😅
@travismccartneyКүн бұрын
I use it for all my guitars and amps. I have also used the feature to list stuff before. I have found that it doesn't do too well with vintage/custom shop/boutique guitars and amps for automatically finding the estimated value however, so those have been manual inputs.

I did not know about this. It's cool, I think I'll use it just to have a catalog of my equipment. It does give Reverb a point in the "Value to use" scale. More from them like this, I might start using it more.

I’m just now realizing that the biggest most unused feature of reverb is sales records/charting. Most common instruments will show you how much everyone has sold for on reverb… graphed and listed with dates.

After about 6 years of planning to do it. I've finally gotten around to getting a picture of all my guitars. Had individual pics, but wanted to get an inventory shot of them all together. Its nice to have them for your records, in case of tragedy or theft. Never thought about having the collection assessed. But how can that be done accurately with guitars? Only 2 of the 11 I'm currently hoarding, are 100% percent original besides straplocks. If your into vintage all original guitars, that might be plausible. But most of us have a bunch of hot rodded and heavily modded, modern spec'd guitars. It sounds like a way for your personal stuff to get its privacy invaded. I'd be very leary of putting my babies out for the pimps to judge. I know what they're worth. Nobody else can possibly know with any degree of accuracy what your guitars are worth. Unless they all happen to be run of the mill, completely bone factory stock. Sounds like a great tool for the sheeple. I'm good. Peace!

Most people will never recover what they put into an instrument whether in Trade or as Sale, it's the same for Those Upgrading Their Guitar not getting a return for that investment and many times devaluing Guitar by Doing So. Rare does not always Mean Valuable, Condition Does Matter as Does Originality, as The Boomer, Gen Z or Millennials wanting Their Dream Guitar want Their Vison and not Yours. So any tool that can educate the masses is a Winner in my Opinion
@bluegryp23 сағат бұрын
Vintage is where you can sustain your investment and even make money. I’ve made a lot of money on vintage amps and guitars. Not so much on my new gear though.

I did mine about 4 years ago i think. Maybe 3. It’s a great idea but obviously Reverb needs to explicitly match the item for a value. For example my rare Sun Dew Gold Ibanez Pia is an easy match because of the words describing it. It’s for sale by the way $NZD8250 and it’s yours you arrange shipping. But if i describe a Squier Affinity Strat? Well it’s going to apply a generic value despite the fact mine is black gloss, black sparkly pick guard and rosewood (generic term) fretboard HSS. I know that that model is worth more than your “normal” Affinity Squier. Does Reverb ? So be careful. The value Reverb sets or estimates may actually be lower. Do your research Cheers from NZ 😎🎸🤘 EDIT: my sparkly Affinity Strat cost me the least of all of my guitars but it’s a fave and not for sale.

This is a pretty cool added feature for reverb! A lot of people might not realize they have enough gear that it merits informing their insurance company for their home or renters insurance, especially renters insurance which normally doesn't cover the value of a big guitar collection.
